Hot, fresh north to northwest winds before a milder, gusty southwest to
southerly change extends over the southwestern two thirds of the state during

Warnings
A severe weather warning for localised damaging winds has been issued for the
Western and Alpine Districts.
A Gale warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of
Cape Otway.
Strong wind warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters west of Cape
Otway, for Port Phillip and Western Port and also for the Gippsland Lakes.
Fire Weather Warning: Fire danger will be extreme Tuesday in the Mallee, Wimmera
and Western districts.
CFA has declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the North Western and South Western
Total Fire Ban districts until midnight Tuesday 27th December 2005.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough over South Australia will continue moving eastwards,
reaching western Victoria tonight then moving across central and eastern areas
overnight and during Wednesday morning. A ridge of high pressure will then
develop over Victoria later Wednesday and on Thursday. Another low pressure
trough will extend from the Bight towards Victoria on Friday before deepening
over the State on Saturday.

a gusty, westerly change with showers and thunderstorms extending from the west
overnight and
clearing eastern districts tomorrow morning. A generally fine mild
to warm day to follow with only isolated
clearing showers near the coast and a
moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeast Queensland has been CANCELLED.
Although a small number of thunderstorms remain active in the far south west of the district, none of them are currently considered severe. No further detailed warnings will be issued unless severe thunderstorms redevelop.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning remains current for parts of the Central Highlands & Coalfields, Maranoa &
Warrego and
Darling Downs &
Granite Belt Forecast Districts.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
