Three die in horror crash
December 27, 2005 - 12:28PM

The nation's Christmas road toll has risen to 20 after three men died and three more were badly injured in a crash in Victoria's south-east overnight.

Police said the six men were in a four-wheel-drive station wagon when it veered onto gravel, rolled over and landed on its wheels before being struck by a second car.

The driver of the second car was alone and was not seriously injured.
The three dead men were aged between 17 and 35. Two of the injured men are in a critical condition.

The accident occurred on Mawley Road, an extension of Bengworden Road, Cobains, east of Sale, about 10.30pm (AEDT).

Two of the men were thrown from the first car when it rolled, police said.
Rural Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bird said one critical patient was suffering serious chest trauma and had been flown by air ambulance to a Melbourne hospital.

Another man in a critical condition with head injuries was flown by helicopter to the Alfred Trauma Centre.

A third man is in a serious condition with chest injuries at Sale Hospital.
The triple fatality brings Victoria's holiday road toll to five.

Perhaps people post the news as a reminder to all of us to take care especially at this time of year.

All the people who have lost their lives so far this Christmas/New Year period, didn't set out to become a statistic. They were just people like the rest of us setting out on a holiday or short drive and tragically never made it to their destination.

Don't like these posts just don't read them, the beauty of this site is you can choose which ones to read and if you open one and discover it's not what you thought, close it.

Sorry Steve, but that is a silly comment

"Don't like these posts just don't read them, the beauty of this site is you can choose which ones to read and if you open one and discover it's not what you thought, close it."

You open a post to read it. You can then agree or disagree with the content and you may respond or leave it alone if you wish. Its your choice. Just like you have responded to others disagreeing with the person posting just like I am disagreeing with your post...lol

If the content violates the Terms of this site then the site owners can delete the post.

Firstly it's Steve's wife Sandy responsible for the "silly comment" better sort that out before I'm banned from the computer.

Seems what I was trying to say wasn't taken the way I meant. Doesn't matter.

Just wanted to clear up the identity crisis.

Sorry Willem, but that is a silly comment (TIC ;-)

Can I sit on the fence - you can open a post to read it, and then agree or disagree with the content - and you may respond or leave it alone if you wish (your words and fair enough)

OR.. You can open it, and discover its not what you thought and close it (Sandy's words, and definitely fair enough)

Sorry mate - felt the need to be fair to Sandy...

Geez, thanks for that Trucky.

Yes it is good of you to post these news items as we don't have a TV or radio where we live and without your relay of most of the horror stories in the media we would be none the wiser.

Thanks again

If only you knew the stories behind the news.

At 1100hrs on Boxing Day when you travellers from Melbourne were all heading up to the Murray or where ever you were going there was a two car bingle on the Midland Hwy just east of Shepparton.

The local Ambulance station was already a crew short for the day anyway, just not enough people in the job to go around.

There were 5 patients to be transported and by the time the ambulances from Shepparton, Murchison, Numurkah & Benalla arrived on the job (& a helicopter), another minor accident occurred further south.

With 2 crew tied up from the Seymour area on that one, there was noone left to look after all you Joe Public's & your families. And you didn't even know!

The only ambulances covering the trip from Melbourne to Tocumwal (a very popular route up the Goulburn Valley Hwy full of cars, 4wds, caravans & boats full of families like yours), plus all the residents between were in Melbourne at Craigieburn & at the other end at Cobram.

In between there were zero paramedics or ambulances available to respond to anything.

The warning is timely. Drive carefully & don't get sick.
