I recently asked about H/T tyres for a 1 tonne ute, 205 16 LT
One reply said that they were running Dueler H/T 691 with 55,000Km life.
My tyres are Dueler H/T 689 and look to have a much less life expectancy.
What is the difference between these two?
Bridgestone do not appear to list either, in that size, on their web site.

i am 99.9% sure the D689 is the older style, I think even different tread pattern, and almost certainlt different compound.

Phil, that was me that replied. The tyre was actually an AT. Bridgestone Dueler AT691. This is the pattern before the current 693, but I think they are still available. It is standard issue on new Rodeos. I got 55k from them but would have got another 5k if I wanted to. This was getting my tyres rotated and a wheel alignment done every 10k. While i\the tyres were AT, there were no noise issues. Not sure on the cost as they came with the vehicle, but knowing B'Stone they are probably fairly inexpensive.

You could also try Kelly Safari AWR. I had these on my old ute and whilst being an AT tyre, they are road oriented. They also come with a 80K warranty I believe.

Cheers.

PS the Bridgestone site is hopeless. It doesn't even list all of their tyres.

MAke sure you shop around for prices. I bought the A/T 693 DD for my Forester on reputation and because they were the cheapest. From my local Bridgeatone Tyre Centre they were $25/tyre cheaper then any other brand from all the tyre shops! Bridgestone also had an advertising deal with NRMA so I was refunded another $8 a tyre from Bridgestone. Saved $132 on 4 tyres !!

The 689 are basically road orientated. They come as original tyres on Mazda Bravo/Ford Courier. I will check out the AT 691 as a possible replacement. I will also look at the Kelly Safari AWR.

I don't know why Bridgestone keep such a useless web site up. It does them no good.

Phil, should also mention that my ute is always loaded with aprox .900kg of tools, so I thought the tyre life was pretty good. Cheers.
