We have a 1998 Petrol Landcruiser and am thinking of having gas fitted to it.
We have considered the side tanks so we don't loose either petrol tanks
Has anyone got ideas or opinions on this

I have customers with the dual tank conversion.
Very neat and practical but they do hang down a bit which will reduce belly clearance. If it was me I would do a body lift, not big maybe 1 to 2 inch and do the dual tank conversion that way you keep both fuel tanks and don't have to fork out for spare wheel carriers.
Just my two bobs worth.
