i used to own a 2.4 turbo diesel pajero and to disengage 4wd to 2wd you had to reverse about 15 metres as per imfo booklet specs.i have just bought a 98 challenger and was wondering what was the disengagement procedure 4 this model thanks.

Should be pretty much instant. Old pajero had a bad auto locking system. You should hear the hubs and transfer case clunking as you deselect 4X4.
