Hi all,
Spent the whole day on the
forum DB conversion that has been mentioned in a few posts. Just to let you know that I may be able to get the conversion completed tonight. Depends on how long the data copy for the first 500MB takes. It is copy from my office machine to the new server and is dependant on the Internet connection performance. If this completes in reasonable time I will turn the
forum off about about 10PM WST (Midnight QLD, 1AM EST, 12:30AM SA, NT etc) and complete the remainder of the data copies and bring it up on the new DB.
There will be a few changes and I expect some early teething problems with large searches etc so please let me know how things are going. I will create a new post when the convert is completed for
feedback.

You guys should be in bed at that time of day!!!!!
As for progress the copy is about 50% so it looks like I will be attempting to get the cut-over done tonight.

If I don't drink too much and can see see the pixels (not the pixies) from about 10-12PM the system should be upgraded and tomorrow will be the big first
test. As mentioned earlier I may have to tweek the search operations over the next few days to try to make it run OK but I am waiting to see what happens with the basic convert. I have converted the programs on my local system and done a fair amount of testing so all looks good from this end just waiting the get all the data up and available on the new online DB server.
PS: I expect the down time to be around 2 hours as I need to bring down to my local system the entire DB that is running live now (about 45-60mins) and then extract threads from the 1 Dec 05 till now (5 mins) and upload these parts to the new DB (10mins),
test (a long time usually) and turn on (takes about 5 secs - no jokes please).
