I am interested in some feed back on the fuel economy of the 4.2 TD 100 Series cruiser.

Not just the average, but in tough working conditions

On a trip around the edges of the Great Sandy Desert , Barlee Ranges , Kennedy Ranges and through Rudal NP last year , towing a Trak Shak camper with 280 litres of fuel ,100 litres of water , 24 bottles of wine , a canoe and three weeks worth of food ( on rough tracks ) , I averaged 5 klm / litre , 20 litres / 100 klm . This went up to 5.8 klm / litre , 17.2 litres / 100 klm on better quality dirt roads .

I was a bit surprised at how low it was .

Cheers ,

Willie

I supose it would get to a point where none of us would have to post a thing because all questions would of been answered!! But then again those Fridge, Battery/12V questions never get answered properly so those will always be asked ;-))

I think it is a good thing that similar questions get asked from timi to time. New technologies and products come out all of the time, along with new members with different information and opinions.......

Cheers Andrew

hi, I tow 2.5 t caravan but mainly on bitumen, some dirt, and get 19/21 ltrs-100ks
fully loaded with provisions and water etc. done the west coast four times now always the same unless bad head winds! unloaded and not towing around 12ltrs/100ks.
Vehicle been very good and reliable but to quote the knockers "gutless" when towing. Im thinking of going to 78 series td for this reason.
