Yeah I guess you guys have had more rain than even we have, so that is why it will be closed. Not much sense opening it before Easter because it'll probably still be wet.

Strezleckis Gippsland. I had rain pouring over the gutters and the rainwater tank overflowing yesterday. Green grass still!

My old man lives at Mirboo Nth, and said there was heavy rain and filled his tanks.

Word from inside the power industry is that it will indeed close due to the cost of upkeep on the track getting out of hand. A big padlock is about to be placed on a new gate!!!

According to todays paper the main reason is the cost of RESCUE to the BI's who run it when it is very wet. They said - closed until the end of the wet which by the way looks to have maybe started - fingers crossed - very dry up here at the mo-but has rained all night and still going....

The monsoon trough has moved down to us so let's hope....

Hi - after hearing a few rumours floating around about possible permanent closures of the CREB track I have made formal enquiries as to the truth in that. Thankfully, I have just confirmed that the CREB has no plan for permanent closure. It will continue to close on a temporary basis only, as required in wet seasons.

The other important reason for the closure noted in this mornings Cairns Post is that the rain will make the track very prone to erosion. If we don't stuff up the track surface, the longer it will stay open. Allthough it's on my back door, I didn,t get to do the whole track this season. I can wait until the next dry!
