The other day I read a post about memory sticks, MP3's and FM transmitters t5hat plug into the cigarette lighter. Blowed if I can find it now so assume it was deleted when the system crashed. Someone quoted a Jaycar catalogue number. I Just want something cheap and simple to play music amnd don't want the expense of an IPOD.

I use a 512mb MP3 and an FM transmitter plugged into the cig. lighter, a very simple and effective system. You tune the FM transmitter and your car radio to the same unused frequency, and use the radio to control the volume as it plays through the cars speakers. You can buy MP3's of various sizes, I paid about $100 for mine at Harvey Norman and about $50 for the FM transmitter.
Hope this is the information you're after, regards Jon

Just do a search on the Jaycar website. they have a mp3 player that pugs into your cig socket and a memory stick plugs into the mp3 player.

I got a 256Mb mp3 player ($56) and a 4 channel FM transmitter ($20) off eBay. They are sold as auction items, but there are so many up for auction that the prices are low. Just be aware that they may or may not be dodgy imports...
