I've just bought a 2003 Toyota Landcruiser 100SRS GXL Manual and find that the oil pressure guage sits on the first quarter mark, above low, and doesn't rise with engine revs and drops down to almost low when cruising on 110km/h. Is this normal? Or is it a common problem with this model of Landcruiser? PLease advise. Thanking you in advance. DeePeR

Would suggest getting the oil pressure correctly checked and compared to specifications.Put the doubt out of your mind.

Hi. As a starting point I would change the oil and filter, using a good quality oil . Then
check the pressure with a mechanical gauge. Ray

Read post 29718 from a couple of days ago regarding a similar problem but the same process to find the real answer.

I have a 2004 TD 100 series and 1/2 way through a trip last year the oil pressure gauge suddenly didn't go above 1/4 or vary with revs - ended up being a faulty gauge.

They are 'idiot guages' just graduated without any numbers ,what is the good of a guage if it does not tell you [accurately] how many psi or bar is in the system!

I raised the same question about my 2003 TD Cruiser with the Toyota man. I was told that the engine relies upon a large quanitity of oil pumped not so much pressure. My car varies between 1/4 and 1/2 way cruising and long uphills it climb to 3/4. I notice the needle moves up and down without any change in revs as
well. Towing does not seem to make any difference either.
