Being a family of shift workers we don't get to many days off together so just to do something totally different we decided on a day trip to fraser island. As we have been all over fraser many times we decided to take the mother in law on our whirl wind tour. All up it was about a fifteen hour day but still very enjoyable. A bit of an update on conditions :- Island is very quiet at the moment resort staff say it will pickup in about a week , as was stated in an earlier post the last hill before kingfisher resort is the worst i have ever seen it. Was following a mitsu outlander for a while and his rear muffler was just leveling out the centre mound of sand. The inland tracks are a little rougher than usual but I would say this will get sorted out over the next month or as they catch up during the quiet periods. Hook point bypass road is very corrigated and hook point is the cleanest I have ever seen it very little drift wood and trees down. Eli creek is quite low , when you walk it water is blow your knees all the way. Some may say fraser is to much for one day and I would agree but hey beats sitting at home and got to test out the new exhaust system on the ute (should have put it on 3 years ago)
But what the hell I guess Fraser Island is one of the many hazzards us Queenslanders have to put up with hehehehe.:)
One good thing to come out of today is that the permit doesn't expire for a month so the other half wants to go back without the kids for some well earned r & r (now when does school start again)

Ross,

Very big day, but some of us drive that much for work almost every day so at least you could enjoy your big day as opposed to me working.
If you really do need to know when school starts, it is next monday I'm told.

Cheers Trevor.
