Hi All . Does anyone have information or experience of the Garry Juntion Road from Kunawarajji through to the Tanami Rd? I do not need current info at present as we are not travelling till March, I would just like to know what conditions to expect to help with trip planning.I realise that conditions can change from season to season.
Regards Ken.

Hi Ken,
last time I went that way, July 2004 it wasn't too bad.
Some stretches good gravel, others rough with coarse gravel and some corrugations.
I took a trailer that year.
Overall better than the Oodnadatta Track was that year.
March maybe a little early and there can be pretty wet patches. Check at the time.

Take care,
Mike

Thanks Mike, our dates are pretty flexible , just keeping an eye on the weather at the moment with another cyclone off the Kimberly coast.

Gday Ken

Travelled Alice to Well 33 in August 2005. No problems at all. Well maintained as most tracks to Communitees are. Too early to tell what the conditions may be like in March. Permits are required of course (see this website) and fuel is available as advertised on Hema Gt Desert Tracks maps.
Regards

Ken, try and stay off that track if there's been heavy rain. I was sitting for 3 days near Papunya in June last year. Track wasn't impossible but it wasn't prudent for a single vehicle to wander around in the quagmire :)) When dry it's a relatively easy way across. The store at Papunya only opens for fuel at certain times as per GDT map. Not sure about the others. Take it easy and have a great trip.

The GJR was in late April 05...............Dry,dusty, plenty of corrugations with some severe bulldust patches east of Jupiter Well.

It is still going to be VERY hot if travelling that way in March and the flies will be friendly.
