Pajman Pete (SA)
I was in Christies camping yesterday and saw a new type of shower.
It looked like the base of a 15 litre stainless garden sprayer complete with pump handle, then in place of a flexible hose and wand was an extending stainless pole with a bent top and a normal shower rose. Beautifully put together and complete with a stick on temperature gauge (you know the type that changes colour).
A very tidy little unit. I was only in there to pick up a some guy rope fittings but the wallet muscle was starting to twitch until I saw the price - $399! Half the price of that new fridge I want - NO WAY!
Still the concept looks good and then I got to thinking. I've got this nice heavy blue plastic water container with the big screw off top complete with O-ring seal. Forget the pump, stick in a tubeless mag wheel valve, connect the hose and shower rose off a dead 12 volt shower, add hot water, 2 minutes with the compressor and away we go. No moving parts or pumps to break.
All the bits are in my junk box, so now I know what I am doing tomorrow. Playing with water tomorrow in
Adelaide can't hurt either.
Cheers
Pete

Sounds like a plan, Pete. I think quite a few people will be interested in your findings.

Hi Pete:
Take a look at the Tanami pump. I have one working on one of my jerricans, with shower attachments. Use a compressor to keep the jerry under pressure and you get the same thing. I am looking at just getting an airline and attaching it to my spare tyre to get the pressure into the can.
I have also seen someone using a 5 litre knapsack sprayer for a similar result.

Yep, 5L garden sprayer does a great job... And cheap too... Only about $10-$15 at Bunnings.

I bought the Coleman Hot Water system before xmas.
Used it in the Vic Hogh Country and earned some SERIOUS brownie points with the wife. Big, bulky but makes for easy hot showers when you have 3 kids.

: )
I earned similar brownie points last year when I installed a Twine.
Just wondering if you get the same number of points if you fit something *sensible* like a turbo?

I thought the naturally aspirated showers were quite OK but a turbo ..... now you're talking about serious grime removal LOLOLOL
May need to fit a Hiclone to it though :)))

G'Day Jack,
Brownie points in a marriage are like airline frequent flyer points ...... no matter how many you accumulate you never get the chance to cash them in.
:))

Buying cool stuff like turbos is why we need to collect brownie points. Never seems to work though. LOL

I think if SWMBO ever reads this I will need more than a turbo'd/hi-cloned water heater. Supercharged steam cleaner to remove the blood might be a good place to start.

It's the little things that count Glenn. After a while the Chancellor of the Exchequer may even loosen the purse strings if she can see a luxurious shower as an outcome. That's my devious plan anyway :)))
