Hello
I have a 100 series landcruiser on which I run 285/75R16 BFG AT's. These are a little bigger than the standard tyres that come with the cruiser. I am getting a camper trailer. I have been told that whilst I can fit the same size tyres on the trailer, it will be at the limit that can fit on the trailer and if I set up on anything but perfectly flat ground, there is a possibility that the canvas won't reach the ground fully.
My question is, what would be the next smaller size tyre that would, in an emergency, be able to be used on my car. Given I carry one spare anyway, the trailer spare would only ever be used if the sapre punctured as
well before I had a chnace to get them fixed.
As always, any help/assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Cammo,
Why not get "standard" tyres for on the camper, but a 285/75 spare tyre for it? This way you will not have the canvas reach issues normally, but in the relatively rare time you may
puncture, it will only be for a short time before the tyre is repaired and simply live with it for then (could even swap larger tyre to opposite side so minimizing the problem further).
This way you have 2 full size spares for the cruiser and I would prefer to have correct size tyres on the vehicle rather than the camper if I had to choose.
Cheers
Captain
