Hi Folks
Two Prados that belong to friends have engine problems.
1; The pre combustion chambers have been leaking coolant into the cylinders and resulted in a hydrauliced engine
2; Blown head gasket on number 4 cylinder.
Do these engines have a history of problems of this nature?

you see here at exp[loroz it only seems to be the nissans that have problems.
acording to the toyota owners here nothing goes wrong with toyotas and if it does theres always an excuse as to why it went wrong.
the diff blew must have been tyre pressures ect.
ifs falling to pieces must have been the ome shocks i fitted
bla bla bla bla bla.
any way sorry i cant help you at all

Nissan drivers seem to be getting a little touchy lately, I remember the days when the toyota owners got bagged out because their gear boxs where not at tough as a Nissan, nor where the front diffs. As a crusier owner and a hilux owner i'm the first to admit that the patrols have the best running gear in the buisness. But i also know that Patrols have poor engine mounts, poor dust proofing, an old engine, poor ergonomics compared to a 100 series or a prado. Furthermore Nissan Australia in their wisdom allowed the smaller gearbox to be placed in the big 4.2 for a while resulting in 5th gear snapping like a twig, (according to Ron moon who drives a nissan, 4x4 Australia) So the point being that all vehicles have their archillies heal, or a problem, most problems are fixed though. Sir diamond to make a generalisation about toyota drivers is a poor effort, Toyotas do have problems, conact your local dealer get a professional opinion on the problem and find who can fix it. By the way Toyota never said they had the best 4wd, they said "We have the BEST SELLING 4wd" according to a Toyota OWNER.

LEROY

I thought the 3.0l patrols had a smaller gearbox than their big brother. Although i'm most likely wrong because i'm a toyota driver????

You all need to visit the nearest surgeon ASAP to get both of your hands removed from your 'old fella'.

No one could be that silly using just one hand.

Ray,

There have4 been a few in Australia with cracked heads but not that many to say there is a problem when the amount sold is taken into accfount. The Australian Prado diesels had different cooling sytems to the Japanese ones so maybe if in NZ they are the same as the Jap ones. Surfs seemed to have a head issue and once again these were jap imports.
