Well the new search system is installed - there is little help available yet - it will come. Anyway here is the way it runs.

Members Last Logon - Same as previous
Members Thread Watch - Same as previous

General search - gone are the complex selections for active archive & both the system will search everything. Results will be ranked by relevance and the score will be displayed.

If you want to limit to a time frame ie: show me current threads in the last X days - then simply select/enter a date in the start date field along with your search and presto only results that match from the period of time. Having said this about the date - all active threads have a false date at the moment of yesterday night, this will automatically fix itself over the next month (as the system cycles the threads and updates to the threads are recorded).

OK now for the keywords - if you enter text such as (ignore ' quote)
'canning stock route csr' then the system will return results that match any of the words, so it will look for canning or stock or route or csr.
'canning and stock and route' this will look for threads that have all three words somewhere in the thread.
'"canning stock route"' (in double quotes) will find all threads that are an exact match to the string.
'"canning stock route" and well' will find all threads that have the exact match to canning stock router and also have the word well in the thread
'"canning stock route" or well' will find all threads with the exact match to canning stock route and will also find all threads with the word well

Basically the search supports AND, OR and NEAR boolean matches and " double quotes for exact phrase.

Enjoy and please provide me any feedback.

Thanks David, though I am not sure that all is working as you suggest. When I log on as a member and visit my home page, all appears normal - The forum section tells me how many questions have been added to the forum since my last visit. When I click on the "View New Details" link however I just seem to be directed to the main forum page without any searching or filtering occurring - There are 23 or so pages of Forum Treads visible at the bottom of the page. In the past there were only one or two just containing threads with new details happening.

Hope its just me and not more work for you!

Steve

As per Member Message:

Thanks Steve - forgot to update the Members page - the calls to the fourm are different than they used to be so I need to adjust the way the members screen opened the forum. It is fixed now thanks very much for noticing - when I tested I just typed the commands into the address bar and forgot to go and test it from the actual page - doh.

Anyway it is now fixed - thanks.
