Has anyone done a drum to disk conversion on a 1977 fj45 cab chasis as my young fellow just bought one and would like to have disks on the front.

If the only option is to wheel the whole diff out and replace it with a disk one which models suit with the same ratios and manual steering.

If the other option is to use the same diff and swap parts over whats the go as this is his preferred option as the diff has just been overhauled and all the steering done.

Keep in mind this is a 4k special with a small amount of rust air and gas.

Do a search as I and others that have done what you want to do answered this exact question not too long ago.
Basically you need to replace from the swivel hubs out with disc brake front end components from either an early hilux or later 40 series with discs or early 60 series.
You will also need to replace the master cylinder with one from a disc brake vehicle (need a smaller bore m/cylinder).
Depending on the age you may have to change or fit a proportioning valve, the first 40's with front discs had an inline one which was mounted near the master cylinder, later ones had a load sensing (rear suspension height) one fitted on the rear axle/chassis which is the better way to go.
