Jenny and I are planning a few days away from this Saturday.

Given the forecasted heat in Vic, we'd like to hit somewhere in Southern Vic near the coast for a bit of cool night air and some fine beaches. We've not been to Apollo Bay before.

We're planning to stay in a Van Park and have a thought to stay at "Kooringal" Van Park.

Any thoughts on the area or the park would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim.

I like the place, quite a long wide bay which because of the distance from Melb doesn't tend to get the day trippers such as Lorne does. Top spot...5/5
Can't help with the park

Apollo Bay is a great place, Kooringal is a small Caravan park, I've stayed there twice and it's quite good. Pisces is the other park a bit further out of town ( still a short walk ), it's much bigger and very close to the beach. There are two pubs, the one on the eastern side of town is great, my wife says the Bay Leaf is good for lunch, if you want a really nice meal try LaBimba, upstairs in the middle of the main street above a bakery I think?
There is a golf course right on the beach if you're into that.
It's a nice quiet little town as most of the townies stop at Lorne.
Enjoy
Stu

Thanks Stu,

I'll make some enquiries based on that.

Jimbo,

What exactly are you looking for?

The Bay will still be like a '60's holiday, all carnival rides and full restaurants on the foreshore, pubs packed to overflowing.

Looking for somewhere a bit quieter, try Wye River or Kennett River, perhaps even Cumberland River Holiday Park about 10 mins outside Lorne.

To really enjoy The Bay you need to wait another month or so until side-show-alley moves on and the real town appears again.

Lots to see and do either way.

Hope this helps

Rolande
