Not sure of Forum Etiquette - I copied the following from another forum - just because I own a Toyota.

The following are comments about Nissan Patrols

The motor and gearing are all wrong. At least if you are planning montain work or rugged creek crossings. It simply wont crawl without stalling . And as the torque does'nt kick in till 1800-2000 rpm, it leaves you riding the clutch to avoid bouncing over large rocks and damaging the vehicle? I drove a 4.2 at the weekend, its an improvement torque wise, but still too tall in low range. I owned a hilux before the Patrol, if you plan to do most of your 4wd work in the hills, buy a pre 05" Hilux. I hear the Cruzer is simarly well geared. My other issue is storage, small item I mean. Where the hell is it? Door pockets are crap, the glove box would store about two pairs of ladies gloves and thats all...maybe a third pair perhaps? The aircraft style trays behind the front seats stop me from storing the melways!

The 3L turbo diesel motors are unreliable, when hauling a heavy load the motor is put under enourmous stress and can blow holes in pistons, this is the last thing you want when in the middle off nowhere, another problem is the turbo, iv'e seen a few fail resulting in a lack off power, even though these problems are covered by waranty theres nothing saying they wont fail after your waranty expires, how much do you think a new motor fitted will be?. The TB48 engine is a sucker for fuel, you might as well throw your walet out the window because you will constantly be at a service staion refueling. The alternate LPG will save you money on fuel but the gas can damage the exhaust shims ive seen this on two 4.8L with gas. On road the ride is not what you would expect, with the solid axles front and back and recirculating ball steering you may belive your driving a truck

The auto is near useless in the bush! (would not reccommend it to off roaders)The light coloured interior shows all little marks and stains. That's it not much really else was a problem.

Still no where to fix a hands free phone cradle. New chrome mirrors are yuk. Should come with standard BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres - last set lasted 133,000km. Nissan could learn some nice storage lessons from Ford with the Territory cars.

Just a couple of things
Still no where to fix a hands free phone cradle - VERY important obviosly, I have seen at least one with a HFC didnt pay attention to where it was

with the solid axles front and back and recirculating ball steering you may belive your driving a truck - Isnt that why you bought it?

Should come with standard BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres- Dunno about the BFs but all 4bys could come std with better offroad tyyres

buy a pre 05" Hilux - Gawd help anyone that takes this advice at work we would do anything not to have to drive these things

The auto is near useless in the bush - Arnt they all?

And i drive a TOJO perhaps see a few threads down about the internet and crap

Trekkie

At first I thought you were just a pathetic troll.
Then I read what YOU drive and realised you're just one of those "paid more, got less" bitter and jealous CroozerLosers.

Has your ItsForShopping suspension cracked up yet?
How many front diffs have you had?
Had the over $3000 150K service on your TD done yet?
Enjoying that factory fitted "drag car" look that cant be fixed without voiding warranty?

I would have bought a 100 series too but I already have a car for driving around town and really needed an offroader......

Andrew, Just a bit of friendly banter. Love the photos on your web. We did the Simpson about 4 weeks after you in 2004 travelling in the other direction. Had a great trip. No, suspension has not cracked - no probs with front diff (yet) or anything else.

The term imposter in this day and age is one tinges with a slice of lemon. It is at the same time both incisive, seperative and inflammatory. In a day and age where tolerance is the norm, use of this term has lead to divorce and anarchy, and once it lead to the place where all lost socks go...but only once, so no-one can remember that place.

I case my rest.

Hey guys, Whoever the author of this piece of BS is, it show's he/she doesn't know much about REAL 4WD's or how to use them! TOTALLY UNINFORMED BS. Obviously never heard of horses for courses.

I wonder if the author was a multi media mogul type journalist ???

They probably love the fitch ;-)

LOL!!! What an idiotic & pathetic thread!!! :)

I've owned both in the past - so, if you're a Tojo owner - don't read this:

Tojo CV's: 7
GQ CV's: 0

Tojo gearbox (4.2 diesel): 2
GQ Gearbox: 0

Tojo rear driveshafts: 3
GQ rear driveshafts: 0

And many other problems I've had on my 80-series....... so I won't go on.

Keep yer wonder-machine Tojo old boy... and be happy! :)

Ill-informed waffle - the second last sentence gives the game away - 133k from a set of BFG's on a vehicle that is used to the extent that the owner can talk with authority about 4 wheel driving ? Nup.

"Don't you just love, when Nissan owners get all defensive about the choice they made? "
To defend, first one must be attacked..... I think its the person that does the attacking that has a complex about the choice theyve made, dont you?

"Who's the troll? "
The morons that get their kicks from trying to upset people or get others angry. Low intellect and poor self esteem.
Where do you fit in the picture?

"So someone else's perspective is wrong, huh? "
Perspective or opinion? or just pathetic trolling?
Opinions are welcome, as is debate, but quoting an unnamed source from an unnamed website is trolling...........

Nice Troll,
So out of the 15 respondants to that forum's thread, there was
1 negative in the overall section. (the original poster)
1 guy from South America who didn't obviously know what the thread was about and 13 glowing positives.....hmmmmm thanks for the boost to the Nissan Trekkie.....not that it needed it.

That's about 87% positive = A
