Well at last the monoonal rain has reached
Townsville. Things are looking green, there is water everywhere, and it is has been raining for a few days now. The synoptic chart looks promising with a low in the gulf moving our way, which is always guaranteed to bring us rain.
It has been a long time since we had a good wet season and the dams sure could use topping up. The long weekend trip is cancelled, and the lawn can;t be mowed. Looks like the long suffering wife will get some attention this weekend. Shame there are no good movies playing in town today.

David,
What a diverse country we live in. I lived in TVille as a kid before moving to
Cairns,
Hobart and now
Melbourne. I
well remember the big wets. Today it is going to be 40 odd in
Melbourne and blowing a NW wind. It is already unpleasant and
smokey outside. Seems like half the state is ablaze and the fireys will have their work cut out for them. What we wouldn't give for just half an inch of your rain today. We could
well see another Ash Wednesday situation today or over the next few days as conditions continue.
Enjoy your big wet but spare a thought for your southern cousins, particularly those in the bush who are in for a long day.

Hi Ruth, always a bit of healthy competion between Brownsville and
Cairns. They should realise they are industry and we are tourism. Amazing the way they have greened up down there over the last few years and their Esplanade is fantastic. Anywhere in NQ is a great place to visit. Will be down your way early April. The worlds best tourist is coming back to OZ and has chartered me for 2 months. This will be our longest tour so far. We have done 3 trips of a month each and lots of smaller ones previously. This time she really wants to do some desert and also keen to
check out the South West corner of WA. Will it be too wet to do the
inside track at that time. Haven't planned too much for next season as I wont be
home till the end of May. I am a freelance contractor always lots of work that time of year up here.
Stay happy and
well. Cheers Rob

Well having lived on the edge of the
Daintree NP for 10 years and spent way too much time in
Cairns, some of your tourism I could do without :-)
Got some nice
places around here, and thank God almost nobody knows about them. :-)
Bring on the healthy competition :-)
Cheers
