I'm looking at replacing the front seats in toyota FJ62 Landcruiser GXL, I believe its possible to replace the 1 1/2 passenger seat with a standard single type. Anybody know where to get suitable seats and bracket'ry, or can provide any information would be appreciated.

Try the wrecking yards or you could lash out and buy some Recaro's or similar.
When you change vehicles, you replace the originals and re-install in the new vehicle.

Don't forget that such modifications must be certified by the appropriate authority to be legal as it changes seating capacity. You may not care, but unfortunately in the event of an accident, your insurance company most certainly will :((

Phil, if you check the compliance plate it will say 6 seater. Thats 3 in the back and 3 in the front. Personally I rekkon that front passengers seat is for the missus after the 3 kids in the back come along .
I meant that she needs to keep kids stuff on the middle bit.........of course :)))

Phil, was only going on my experience with Toyos. I've always had a shoulder belt and a lap sash one attached to the 1 3/4 seat.
Obviously thats not always the case with other brands...hmm, learn something new every day :))

Just helped put some Sparco racing seats in my sons car.
He went and got the seats and bases he made blue plated (checked and certified by an engineer) so he doesn't void his insurance.

Not sure what recaro and other seat manufacturers recommend.

Might be an idea to check. Previously he had put in some seats from a skyline half cut, left over at the wreckers. Got those blue plated too.

I am told that the same series Sahara has bucket seats and they fit straight on to the mounting points without any alteration, trouble is finding a pair in reasonable condition.
Good luck.
