Hi all first tme on
We have planed a trip to
Coral Bay (last 2 weeks in July) and will be driving up
the beach to
Exmouth.
Can anyone tell me what the track is like and if it would be difficult with a trailer (boat) 1000kg.
I have a series 2 Disco V8 ( have I left myself open here?)

should be fine. You won't actually be driving up
the beach. It is a dirt track (corrugated) through various stations, across Yardie Creek (
check tides) and up the coast to
Exmouth. The only worrying part for you here is the Disco (sorry - the opportunity was too good to resist and you MUST have been expecting it !).
I shall be down to
Coral Bay Aust Day weekend and may even do that trek myself so shall report back next week.
If you haven't got
Coral Bay booked I would suggest you do so IMMEDIATELY.

Corrugated is definitely an understatement but its a lovely drive all the same.

Phil,
We were in
Coral Bay in Sept The town itself is over rated but the area is fantastic. A geat camping spot if you have your tinnie is the "9 mile" on the coast access road. Extra good if you have kids.(we don't) Very quiet ,good fishing and take your own firewood in if you want a fire.We even had a 40ft bus camped near us out there.

Hi Phil,
You will have no problem at all. As you will see, the volume of caravans that use that track are testiment to just how accessible it is. 2 wheel drive the whole way (except the Yardie crossing, but thats only because of the soft sand...theres usually no water).

Thanks to you all for the responce, this is really a great site.
Our friends that will be travelling with us have a Prado and will be quite concerned with the soft sand at Yardie Creek, the Disco shouldn't have problem pulling both them and the boat across ( sorry Butts, had to have a little go since you got bogged on our last holiday to
Shark Bay)
