I can now confirm that the build quality can be very poor, so be careful if buying this potentially good camper. My enquiries show it is best to buy an already built unit - too risky to have one built to order, and to make sure everything works as it should. Thanks everyone for your help.

did you have a look at the 'trayon' slide-on?
looked quite good at the
perth 4wd show,would value an opinion if you've looked at them new/2nd hand.

Sorry HOWIE, not familiar with the Trayon 'in the flesh', but have seen the Northstar slide-on up close, and was quite impressed. They have a canvas section of about 2' between the sides and hard roof sections.
