Voxson (Adelaide)
Probably short notice but on May 26th we leave on our big trip.....
Birdsville,
Lawn Hill, across the gulf, up through Pormpuraaw across to Musgrave,
Cape York and surrounds, Gold fields,
Cairns,
undara lava tubes,
Innamincka and
home... approx 5 weeks....
Two cars leaving from
Adelaide,, my Patrol,, and my friends Navara (3 weeks old and
well set up)... Noel in the Navara wants a passenger to share costs with..
We meet up with two more vehicles in Mt Isa....
Any one interested???

You'd probably find backpackers willing to join you for share of petrol costs although they are tighter than a fish's sphincter when it comes to food in general.
They probably be anticipating one way to
cairns and then you may find a passenger there to come back with.
Put up advertising in the backpacker accom in
Adelaide and you will get calls.

try www.contiki.com.au and put a notice in their forums........used by many backpackers,travellers etc from oz and around the world....there is always someone out there for an adventure!!!!

Someone aboard for the whole trip would be better....
Backpackers are normally one way travellers...
Just a normal person with an interest of 4x4's with a basic understanding of it's operation would be nice...

I would love to come, but my mum only gives me $6 a week pocket money - is that enough? I am 6, but have done lots of camping and 4wding, please can I come? I talk heaps, and would be great company, also I don't eat much food (particularly if it is healthy!), so would be relatively cheap to keep? Please, pretty please, my mum would love me to have a great adventure with someone else? -Jack

Don't be prejudicial as to who you will get from the backpackers.
yes - one way is a likely interest, but you might get an ex-Israeli soldier who spent his life driving hummers for the last 3 years (say) who is very interested in 4WDing.

well not all Aussies make good travelling companions either!
Of course it may be an Irishman who has crossed the artic with sled dogs.
(as just two examples of backpacking folks who have accompanied me on trips)
