Dog friendly place to camp - Nth NSW

I'm not sure if your suggesting free camping? Its not really possible in that part of NSW.

There aren't many spots due to most available areas being National Parks. Most of the councils are anal about dogs on their beaches as well.

Having said that there is a dog friendly caravan park in Ballina right on the water that we are looking at staying at in the future, Shaws Bay Caravan Park I think.

I's steer clear of Byron more rules and regs than you can poke a stick at. We found a great van park near Pottsville, relaxed, dog friendly, to the point that ours played with everyone there without a drama. Across the road from a surf beach as well.

G'day gtc, if you go to your newsagent you should be able to pick up a book called 'Travelling with Dogs' or something similar. This will give you all the details you need.

I just scored a copy of 'The NSW Caravan and Camping Guide', which has huge lists of places and even pictures of little doggies next to those where they're welcome...

Theres a top spot on the richmond river called Coraki. It's a little town (about 1000) and its about 25kms inland of woodburn heading towards casino. Great little council run caravan park right on the river. I was there at xmas, just about deserted, fully lawned area, sandy beach for swimming, pub -bowling club - and shops about 100 meters away. Great spot, no crowds, few indiginious locals about but no hassels. reccomend it if you want to relax away from the hoards. even better if you have a boat.
