Hi there everyone, I am new to all this diesel stuff, and I have discovered that one of my glow plugs is burnt out, and do you think that I can find the correct glow plug for me model vehicle, I was wondering if any people out there would know what glow plug I require, all the details I have are listed below.

Model HJ60
Engine 2H
Build 9/83

This is a 12v system and as far as I can tell it has the superglow setup on it.

Things are getting confussing and Bosch and NGK dont have exact part numbers that match. The bosch plug currently in the vehicle 250 220 115 is a bocsh german number and in not even a stocked part in Australia.

Toyota gave me a part number of 19850-68051, and said they have Nippen Denso plugs 67100-1680 which are correct, but at $37.50ea I dont really want to go down that path.

Things really are a mess and I only have a few days to get it worked out before I take it to ARB to get an airlocker o-ring replaced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Azz

Hi even though the vehicle is 12V the glow plugs are 6V. I have always purchased from my local "Auto One" store and they are about $25ea. I was always told by various mechanics to replace them all not just the stuffed one as resitance on the old ones compared to the new one will stuff the lot of them incl the new one in a short period of time.
This is from personal experience and I've had a heap of 2H vehicles.

HJ60 Glow Plugs you can buy from anywhere try Repco,Bursons or Toyota if your in Melbourne try Hi Flow out in Springvale.
They are 6volt don't be alarmed if you put your glasses on you Will see the part number is on the plug its not rocket science people have been buying plugs for HJ-60's for years take a tip replace them all at the same time if one has gone the rest will next week.

I know it should not be rocket sience, but repco dont have a Bosch part number for the 2H engine in 12v (I looked in the bosch book myself and its not there), I looked in the NGK book and they only list a 12v plug for a 88-90 year, and 80-82 in 24v, nothing for the 83 at all, really all I need is the part number of the plugs that you guys are buying because noone I ask, not repco, not the auto elec can tell me which plug is the correct plug. And none of us can find it in the book.

The closest I can find is a NGK Y107R, can anyone confirm if this is the correct plug, or if there is any bosch plug part number that I can use.

I know I need a 6v plug, and I know is got to be suitable for the superglow systems, looks like NGK Y107R is a 10.5v so I know thats not suitable,

Does anyone know the exact NGK or BOSCH 6v part number that they have sucesfully used with the 2H engine with superglow?

Cheers

well, after many hours seraching I am still at a loss as to any part numbers for aftermarket plugs.

I guess if noone has any number on hand I will have to resort to the Nippon Denso plug that my local toyota dealer has, I will have to replace the full set and at $42ea thats not lookin pretty. :(

I was hoping for some NGK or Bosch parts that I can pick up at my local repco for around $16ea.

QIKAZZ,
I use HKT PT146 in my 85 2H, roughly around 16-18 oxfords each.
6V plugs.
Champion No. CH 125
Bosch No GPT 214
Apparently all 2H 82-88 are 6V. AFAICA.

Thanks for the info, I will get me a look at one of these ASAP, I rang 2 sperate toyota dealers and they both definatly game me toyota part number 19850-68051

I dont know the difference between that part number and 19850-68050, but if you say those 2 plugs are 6v, well im willing to give them a shot.

Cheers
