Announced last night on the local channel 9 news.
A brand new fuel refinery for
Darwin. $450 million to build. Raw stock coming from condensate from the natural gas processing plant just up and running, cleaner that oil based crude, and no sulfur content. Means that as of 2009,
Darwin, and the top end, as currently, fuel from
Darwin terminal goies as far south as
Tennant Creek, as far east as Barkley
Home stead, and as far west as
Victoria River. Currently, our fuel supplies are from Singapore, I belive. When the new refinery comes online, we will have access to some of the cleanest fuel in Oz! Bet ya it wont be any cheaper though.

Did the report say who was to build the new plant?
The price may be a little better than you currently get but the Australian pricing system is built on Tapis crude which is Singapore pricing. Being closer to Singapore you may get a better deal than us far away southerners.

If they can make it cheap then they will sell on the world market and you will have to buy it back again at world market price ! The rich get richer.
