I'm keen to make it to Fraser this year but the
easter weekend and following week is the only time that suits our whole party. Is it worth it? will there be too many people on the island to really enjoy it?

It's a big BIG island sam, we were over there for the Australia day weekend, along with 16 other clubs, as
well as the usual lot of rent-a-troopies and buses..... and yes it was busy but still plenty of room for everyone!
You'll probably find that most people will leave at the end of the
easter weekend and there'll be fewer then to contend with!
And worth it???????????
Absolutely!

Sam
Get to
places early ! Most tour companies get to the major attractions around 10am.
We where there for 2 weeks in January School holidays, we got to
places early and left when the tour buses arrived.

Sam
Not sure where you are from but School holidays in Qld have changed this year. The school vacation is before
Easter and not after it so after
Easter most locals will have left the island. But you won't have it to yourself.
I first went to Fraser in the early sixties before it was saved. We camped at
Eli creek for a week and saw no one and no other vehicles.!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but your information regrading the QLD school terms is incorrect. They start on 8 Apr and go back on 18 Apr.
Easter is 14 - 17 Apr this year which means the place will be awash with us mainlanders until the Sunday at best.

We booked into the King Fisher Bay Resort. SWMBO was fed up with roughing it and I wanted to go to the island, so we comprimised. At least we can escape to our room and relax in comfort when the mading crowds get too much.
We're a little concerned, after seeing the Getaway story the other night, with lunatics in 4WDs (notably foriegners) on the beaches and tracks. How bad does it get at that time of the year?
Cheers

My post stated that the QLD holidays are before
Easter and as Sam is talking about the week after
Easter, locals will be gone by then.
