Has anyone any experience with after market seats for a GQ diesel Patrol eg Recaro , Paratus etc. Are they good, easy to fit , worth doing and any brand more siutable?

Though not a patrol (Jack) couple of things I noted recently at a motor trimmer in Adelaide (Recaro agent).
The recommend Recaro model for fourbies (one that is easy to slide in and out of) was $2000 fitted - that included fabricating mounts to the extent necessary. The inflatable lumbar support module was a very simple device, but was extra. A letter outlining the engineering aspect of the work, so as not to compromise any regulations (and insurance issues) was $200 ! Will be interested in replies to follow, re "worth" ..........

TH if you wanna do it on the cheap and you're handy with a spanner and welder- go to the wreckers, pick up a pair of seats from an 88-91 (I think)- wedge shaped, Honda Prelude- very sporty, good side support, for about $150 and start transfering sliders/mounts from GQ originals to prelude seats- SWEEEEET! Some will concentrate on how legal- but choice for you.

I have Recaro's fitted to my GU Patrol and are very happy with them. The co-pilot and I suffer bad backs and these help to eliminate hassles and they encourage long trips.

You learn to lift yourself in and out as you can't slide in and out as in a normal seat.

Had Scheel seats in my MQ Patrol, but they or their agents seem to have left the land of Aus. which makes it hard to get bases.(the Scheels are 25 years old and still seem OK to sit in)

I will transfer the Recaro's from car to car as we need, so you get your moneys worth over the years.
