Can anyone confirm that cards are not accepted at the Kunawarritji Community for payment of fuel ? For those trying to get some advice from the CSR reanactment 2006 website - It appears the idea has collasped sadly.
Cheers

Kunawarritji has EFTPOS but not Credit Card facilities. This information is 10 months old

Hi Mike,

Having done the Canning in May '05 and read about the proposed reenactment I could never see how it was ever going to work anyway. I've only had a bit to do with stock on family farms but this really seemed like an unrealistic target.

It's sad to hear that for those who have put the effort in that their work was in vain. But with the number of restored wells in the north end that have unpotable water after flooding, and the number of unusable wells that have collapsed, I couldn't see how they were going to water stock.

It's not the sort of route you could cart water on for even a small herd like they were proposing, and the thought of stock getting into places like Wardabunna or Durba was a bit disturbing, particularly with what the water was going to be like for other travellers for months to come after they left.

The water at Durba last May in the bottom water hole was fouled by a dead emu and camel anyway, the remaining water in the top hole wouldn't have watered travellers and stock. The original well site just around from Durba was not really suitable back in 1906 and would probably not be now either.

As unfortunate as it may be, this event not going ahead is not a bad thing in my opinion, both for the stock involved and the travellers that follow afterwards.

Oops forgot the other bit.

Kunnawarritji last year accepted eftpos in the shop. I did order a couple of T-shirts after we got back but I can't remember how I paid, might have been BSB & Acct.

Incidently when they arrive they were different to the logo we saw in May, they are CSR renactment 2006 shirts! A collectors item maybe, of an event that never occurred?

The fuel there was 5c per ltr cheaper than the fuel drop and was $2.20 per litre. I would guess the way fuel is going that $2.60 a litre would be a realistic estimate for this year.
