g'day all
seen this funnel in the club marine mag, originally developed for use in the gulf war because the sand blowing about was polluting the fuel,it's supposed to seperate water crud etc. fast flow also, could be good for jerry cans maybe even at the bowser.check it out at www.mercurymarine.com.au

Hey Toohey,

Thanks for the link. I found the manufacturers site, it looks pretty good. Even has a video of them pouring water into the funnel with nothing coming out, then pouring fuel into the water and the fuel comes right through. Very cool.

They also make up a mix of 500mls water, fuel, sand, grass, iron filings and other junk and pour it in. The fuel goes right through, the rest is left behind and the 500mls of water is poured out of the funnel to the millilitre.

Video of Mr Funnel in Action.

Thanks,

Aaron.

'mr funnel"s are very popular in the aviation field, i will not put fuel in my microlight without one. they come in a couple of sizes but not sure if the spout would be long enough to reach into most car fillers ( not the patrol anyway) but i'm sure it could be adapted very easily (err inside of kitchen roll). often wondered why the 4wd fraternity don't use them more.
don't know if they handle diesel good or bad.

Hi toohey,

i got on of these funnels from the US and the answer is yes , it is definately working.
Mixed water and petrol and only the petrol came out. The lenght of the outlet is a problem but you can lenghten it by cutting off a normal funnel filler bit and use a clamp to put it on.

There is only one problem with the Mr. Funnel's funnel , the petrol will splash everywhere at the bowser even if you try to run it slowly. i will put a cover on and leave only a small opening for the nozzel.

Works well but needs some improvement for serious filling at the bowser.
