Following a trip to
Cape York, my GU Patrol now tends to shake & vibrate over heavier bumps and has lost its tight body feel. Nissan serviced it & tightened three body to chassis mounts, but this has only improved it slightly.
Not being overly trusting of these establishments , I bought a
Gregory's manual with a view to torquing the mounts myself. Alas, there is not even a section on body mounts.
The manual for the previous Patrol states there are 10 mounts. I can only find 8 on the GU.
Can anybody advise me on how many mounts there are on the GU, and how tight they should be.
Assuming it isn"t the mounts causing the loose ride, any ideas what else I should
check?
Thanks,
Dave

Have you checked the shockie dampers? They could be stuffed after such a long and rough trip and might contribute to a less than 'tight' feel in the
suspension.

Have you checked the front wheel bearings for free play? The GUII that I have has had this problem in the past.
The adjusting system leaves something to be desired according to one mechanic I spoke to about it. There are two phillips head screws that hold the lock plate and they sometimes vibrate loose or even all the way out.

Forget about
Gregory's manuals, get a factory manual. I just picked one up for my MQ cheap as on Ebay. There was a bunch of factory manuals for GU's an ebay last week.

Which 8 have you found? There are 2 centrally under the cargo area too on the GQ which are hidden.
