Seen a Waeco CDF-45 at my local (Hoppers crossing Vic) Supercheap store for $550. 39 Litre, Same foot print as the CDF-35 but 475mm High. Same elctrics as the CDF-35.
Fridge Shop had two of these, brand new, last week for $700.

Hi Willo,

I too have seen these from time to time. I have a mate looking for the 32lt job (I think thats the cdf35 ?) but they don't seem to have these at this same price or a little cheaper, I always wonder why this is.
Good value if you can use that size.

Cheers Trevor.

I assume you mean CDF-35. It's 31 litres, not 39L.

At $550, it's a bargain IF it includes the protective cover and AC adapter. You want the cover because the insulation is less than in the CF range, even though the compressor is the same. That's why it has slightly higher stated power consumption than CF-35, which is the same size. The CDF-35 also only has recessed handles, so no tie-down points - the cover might have rings to tie it down.

If you have to buy the cover and adapter separately, they will cost $145 from Fridge Shop (+ del).

You might also want to get a thermometer for it, because the CDF-35 has a slide control and no temp display. (That's not all bad, because you can fine-tune the temp more than in those CF models that only allow settings in 5 deg increments.) I got a Waeco thermometer for $20 from Fridge Shop. They are $30 new.

Waeco have a monthly special on CDF-35 this month: $699 with cover and adapter. If SupaCheap has this package for $550, take it.

See Post 30012 for more info.

Definitely a CDF-45: 39 Litre. You won’t find these in the current Waeco Australian catalogue, go here to find out more info.

"Running time:
25% at 20°C ambient temperature,
35% at 32°C ambient temperature,
both at 5°C interior temperature"

Gracious! From memory that's about double the CF-40. You would want to have a good power supply.

Still the price is amazing for a fridge that size.

I had a second look at these and the wall thickness looks very thin at the corners (15-18mm), Suspicious of performance & if waeco actually make a CDF-45, Yesterday I checked the waeco web site, that’s when I noticed the average running time.
May not be such a bargain after all & no wonder waeco don't have them in their Australian Catalogue

Spot on, Willo. Interesting to note the difference in power consumption between CDF-35 and CDF-45. Waeco Aust must have decided that the latter might undermine their reputation for low power consumption.

Interesting that you say in your original post that the Fridge Shop had the CDF-45 last week for $700. That's what they charge for the CF-40 AC (model without digital temp display). I know which one I'd prefer.
