Anyone know a place in Perth that might fix a Multi tap Antenae? Mine seems to be busted internally or something. I soldered up another conecter onto the coax cable as i ripped it off the other day but couldnt get a peep - not even the usual static. After much mucking around i found the pvc covering or whatever it is on the ariel can be turned a bit as if it is loose. as i did that the radio jumped into life with static but i still couldnt riceive anything of tonights perth VKS sked

Terlin Outbacker would be worth a try.

Maybe the same problem that I had where the spiral wound wire fractured near the base from too much whipping around in the rough stuff. I carefully peeled back and cut the heatshrink for a few cm, found the fracture with the help of multimeter and applied solder, reapply a bit of heatshrink and it's as good as new.

I now tend to remove the antenna when the going gets rough.

sounds plausable I didnt actually know what internally is in an antenae. I will go to Minesite technology tomorrow and hopefull the boys are there and not on site. If I can get it checked out with a swa meter maybe that will confirm where the problem actually is. At first i thought it was my conecter to the arieal. but it now doesnt seem so

Went to Minesite tecknology this morning and for the standard fee (Tooeys extra dry) they confirmed an open circuit and then eleminated one by one the base, the conections and the wiring so i have sent it to Terlins outbacker as it will be around $70 to fix vs $300 or so for another. I could try and fix it myself but I can see that ending up in tears

Got to agree with Old Bushie - Terry can be found at Terlin Outbacker Antenna & Communications, 11 McElligott Crt, CanningVale (off Bannister Road) - phone 9455.4288 - he is not always in the office, so may be an idea to ring him first.
