Anyone know if you can still access
Boat Harbour south of Kernell in
Sydney? Is it worth the trip, lots of people? Whats the best way in?
I could not find much detail on the web. There was mention of Cronulla 4WD park but I could not find it in the yellow pages?
Looking at the UBD there is 4WD access at Wanda Beach (off Murdock St
carpark), could you drive up from there? Do you need a permit? What about the road at the end of Josephs Banks Drive?

I think it is cronulla 4wd park the last time I was there they charged me from memory $10 for the privilege.
When I was a lad I used to surf the reefs around the area we used to spend all week end out there.
Then I think the family that own it thought we can make money out of this.
All the best
Eric

Boat harbour at Kurnell is still there but it will cost you $16 to get in. Depends what you want to do if it's worth the trip. Personally I go there on the weekend when I can't get a park anywhere near
the beach at cronulla, easy just to park on
the beach with 3
young kids. If you want to go there for any sand or dune driving I wouldn't bother.

Thanks Brett. Where is
the entrance? Is
the beach good? I was just wanting to do it for something different on a day at
the beach, but $16 is a little steep.

The beach is the very end of Wanda, so if you've been to Wanda it's the same, there are also some rocks at the end of
the beach.
The entrance is off captain
cook drive and is
well sign posted there is a
sign a few hundred meters before the turn off. You can go for a bit of a drive back of
the beach but if you try and compare it to something like
stockton beach you will be very dissapointed

The entrance is off Captain
Cook Drive, just before the
Caltex oil refinery - $16 day pass. No entry via Wanda beach.

We live at Kurnell, not Kernell! Kurnell is where Captain
Cook landed, although he wasn't a Captain at the time.
Ask Truckste, he left Kurnell. Sparky
