G'day Folks, I am thinking of buying a Precleaner to use when in convoy on club trips. I have a Safari snorkel and have been advised that an adaptor would have to put in place to all the precleaner to fit firmly. ID on the opening is 3" plus wall thickness of about 5-6mm. Anyone have one on theirs and if so what brand did you use??

Cheers

I have a donaldson 10" precleaner on my 4.2 I brought from ARB with adaptor. Dont get 7" as don't let enough air through.

G'day madcow, I agree with Dave, I've fitted a 10" Donaldson Pre Cleaner (Off my old Hilux) and utilised a standard PVC drainage adaptor from the local hardware.

I would definitely be avoiding the 7" precleaner - too restrictive.

We live in the Tanami, the dust it will prevent heading into your engine is well worth it.

Constant use on the Tanami and other local roads did require me to add a very thin layer of silicone to the adaptor/snorkel to prevent it working loose.

Hope this helps

G'day Madcow, 10" precleaner is the way to go, we have a 4.2TDI with Safari snorkel, live in the Tanami and it has saved a heap of dust getting to our motor.

I utilised a standard PVC drainage adaptor from the hardware. I added a little silicon or similar to the connection adaptor/snorkel as the rough roads around our area saw the precleaner work loose with only the std clamp.

good luck

Thanks guys, I bought one and used it last weekend as well as the previous weekend. Impressed with how much crap was captured in the bowl and money well spent.

Cheers
