bob the builder
hello everyone.
I am thinking of buying a second hand 4x4.. a Pajero or similar
I have looked in
Canberra at a few but don't know what Q+A I should be asking in regard to value for money and vehicle condition. My budget is around...$30k.
Regards
Bob Piper

What do you intend to do with it???
That helps decide what car you should look at a little more...
Pajs are good cars, lack a little in the
suspension offroad, but then there lies what do you intend on doing.... weekend warrior, or family car with the odd trip!

hi bob the builder,
i have owned and driven pajeros and a toyota 100 series
the nl v6pajero is as good as any 4x4 on the market cheap to run, our v6 2000 nl 88l for 550km towing 1800kg caravan loaded for 5 people and very good off road with no modifications. i tell it as it is. strong back end we have had 2 a 97 and 2000. great cars
we went for a 100 series desiel 4,2litre 150l for fuel 900 km tops, put a load on the back the bum drags and
well towing any thing other than a box trailer forget it. 15ol desiel 500-550km tops on the flat. gutless, noisey, no power to overtake put your foot down and wait, and watch the fuel run out the back.
now owner of a 3.2l di-d pajero what a car, goes like the clappers, cheap to run, 811km for 78l of desiel loadedwith camping gear for 5people over the mountains and trough the high country. very impressed.
the pajero is a very underrated 4x4 very easy to drive keeps dust out, very good value for money and there is very little trouble with them. keep them in mind, good touring, sand driving, easy to handle, and a driving pleasure. its up to you. good hunting,
check under the body for off road usage. most dont leave the road, you can get a good deal.
happy 4x4 mich

Thanks for all the info, Mich
We are going to start looking in ernest this week end
It's a shame we have lost so many huts in the high country, as that was my main reason for a sea change in my weekend activities..
I am thinking of helping them rebuild (the huts) after the fires.
thanks a lot
Bob
