I am going camping on Tuesday down to Cape Perpendicular to do a bit of fishing , read a bit , and practise omphaloskepsis .
Many years ago we used to be able to drive in to the Docks , the Inner Tubes and the Crack and a beautiful beach next to the Docks .
Is it still possible to get in there to
camp , or has NPWS blocked it off ?
Any other
camping area suggestions on that Northern side ??
Thanks ,

Where do you get this stuff from...10 out of 10 for the learning channel...
OMPHALOSKEPSIS
Contemplating one’s navel as an aid to meditation.
This word seems to be relatively new, at least the Merriam-Webster “Word of the Day” column claims it to have been invented only in the 1920s. It turns up in only a few dictionaries and seems to be a word that survives more for the chance to show off one’s erudition than as a real aid to communication. If so, this article is a further perpetuation of its unreal status. It is formed from two Greek words, omphalos, “navel, boss, hub”, and skepsis, “the act of looking; enquiry”. The former turns up in words such as omphalotomy, “cutting of the umbilical cord”, in the related omphalopsychic for one of a group of mystics who practised gazing at the navel as a means of inducing hypnotic reverie, and omphalomancy, an ancient form of divination in which the number of children a woman would bear was determined from counting the knots in her umbilical cord at birth.
PS. Don't forget to
check for fluff!!!!

Closest you can probably
camp to pt perp will be honey moon bay.The docks is now closed to fishing,so i presume the entry is as
well.Due to a maniac that drove out of the range with a live ,unexploded
shell in his car,the rangers and security now keeps a close eye on who goes in and out of the Beecroft range.
You'll feel like your entering Stalag 13! Curarong also has a good caravan park, but I think
Honeymoon bay is much more picturesque.Cheers and have a good time.

Thanks Uncle ,
Is
Honeymoon Bay the place just next to the Docks ? If so , I would like to go there .I will have to pick up a map when I get to Nowra .
I can remember being hunted out of the range area by helicopters back when I was a lad - a long time ago .
I have caught some good yellowfin off the rocks at the Docks and I had a very short fight with a marlin there as
well . Closed - oh
well , that's progress .
Thanks again ,
Willie .

Uncle ,
I just googled some info . Honeymoon is not the beach next to the Docks and you are not allowed to
camp at Honeymoon outside of weekends and school holidays - so that's out .
Looks like you can't
camp anywhere on the Beechroft Penninsula now . THAT'S PROGRESS !
Cheers ,
Willie .

Willie you can still fish the "outer" torpedo tubes, just park at the
carpark at the light house.I havent fished the tubes for years but a great spot, the water is very warm here in the bay at present.
Didnt know that info on honey moon, bloody NPWS at it every where, they even have habitat protection zones and sanctuary zones in the bay now.Marker bouys all over the water ways telling people where they can and cant fish. And it is heavily patroled by the Jervis bay marine park authority too.Ah
well, another few years and Jervis bay will be totally off limits for fishing all together!!Then we can tell our kids later on in life how we used to spin for tuna and live bait off the rocks for marlin on those lovely fishing plat forms.
hey Willie,if ya get hungry and like BBQ chook call into the chicken
shop at Callala Bay and say hi,cheer s.

There , that should keep you off the streets for a while .

GME MT310..beg borrow or buy s/h. Be aware that it will be superceded soon by the new 400meg system.
Please don't catch discombobulation
Nasty as it sounds
Not to be confused with omphaloskepsis
Which is still doing the rounds
And should you get to close to others
Imbrogglio you could catch
I've no idea just what it is
So keep it off your patch.

I stayed at
honeymoon bay for a few days in January. Not a bad spot, but as the tide goes out the bay is too small for all the people and water quality drops considerably.
It also seems that 2wd school holiday campers have a different sense of camping etiquette than I do.

Willie, I was fishing in the boat on that side of the bay yesterday. There must have been at least thirty odd boats in the area as
well as a dozen odd people fishing the outer tubes. I'm pretty sure the docks and inner tubes can't be fished now and there are always dive boats moored there these days. Kingfish are biting
well at the moment along the rocks and it might be worth giving the rocks near longnose point a go, you need to walk in through target beach to get there. I know the Navy has been shelling the range in the last few weeks so it would be best to
check with the
ranger station for closure times before going there, an alternative might be the southern side and fishing the beaches or rocks there. I know that some good bream have been caught on
five mile beach over the last month, Good luck anyway with were ever you end up.
