well amongst my usual bad luck -- my thrust bearing has now gone on my 91 4runner ( sr5 v6 ) -- when clutch is pressed makes a terrible grinding noise and can feel it thought the peddle ...

anyway -- i will change this myself --- anything i should look for ?? anyone have an online manual ? these gear boxes are sealed to outside water and dirty right ?? rather than the simple plates on standard cars?

i have done my van clutch in about 3 hours .... ( toyota hiace ) but suspect this will take MUCH longer ......

any suggestions guys ?

Frank

Frank, no idea about your vehicle, but I have changed a series 60 clutch by myself. And I'd never seen a clutch before :)
The trick is to support the gearbox and engine properly. The two have to come apart. Mine came apart by using a system of ropes and a sit on mower !
I wouldnt even attempt it these days. MUCH easier to save up the $$ and pay through the nose.

If you need to, a broom stick and gaffer tape make a very handy "spigot realignment tool"
