Gday everyone.

I am looking at moving from a tent camper to a swag camper - i reckon it would be a hell of a lot easier!

I am looking at the Oztrail mitchell swag: http://www.mrswagman.com.au/economy-mitchell.shtml

anybody know anything about OZtrail swags? or anyone have the same swag - i dont want to spend too much cause i have never slept in a swag and may hate it!!!

Thanks,
Meek

Hi Meek. Yep, I have one and it is brilliant - much better than the Jolly Swag Matilda Kingsize I used to have. It is well made, plenty of good features like internal pockets, tension straps - a good size, and waterproof from the getgo. I bought mine on the recommendation of a few mates and have not regretted it. You should be able to pick one up for around $200 on sale.

Hey Meek

I just brought the oztrail mitchell 3 loop double swag, bloody beauty. Use when it is just an overnighter or when we are constantly on the move. This one is quite big, plenty of height and room. Picked mine up from granges.

Got one too. Excellent value. Used mine in everything from -4C through days of rain through 45C.

My wife picked one up a few weeks ago, for herself. We are using it this weekend for 4 days, so we can't give you a road test, but hey, they have thought of EVERYTHING, when they designed this baby.

I have a Sar Major King Discovery, and I reckon Tracy's is waaaaay better than mine!

You shouldn't go wrong.

Have had an Oztrail Mitchell for about 12 months after replacing an older style swag. It's great and I use it all the time. The only issue I have had are the foot and middle hoops snapping at the join. Its easier to get them into the slots. It was interesting that a guy camping next to me at the Queenbeyan 4X4 had the same problem. Brand transfer is wearing off but who cares for the price.

Meek,
I just bought the Oztrail Mitchell at last weeks caravan and camping show in Adelaide from Christies Camping for $189. Haven’t used it in anger yet, but after seasoning it and having a good play, I recon it’s great. I plan to stick it up onto a camp stretcher if I can find one big enough. The canvas is a bit light, but as previously mentioned it has all the important features, and if looked after it should last a while. I compared it to the Brumby swag, but not as heavy and half the price. I’ll give it a good workout across the Simpson next July.
