Friends, Romans and Countrymen.
From tomorrow, I will not be answering any more technical questions, as you have far superior technical expertise compared to my limited experience and knowledge in the form of Truckster, thepublican, Axel and Aliases. These highly technically competent qualified and constructive people, will be only too delighted to assist you with full and technically detailed replies. They will give you far more detailed and explanatory replies than what I have been giving.
I do apologise for passing on my limited and un-informative information.
Hopefully you will be fully satisfied with the answers of Truckster, thepublican, Axel and Aliases. Please treat them as they have treated me.
Please go kindly,
Best regards,
Ozi.

Why the dummy spit Ozi?
Or were you leaving anyway and thought you'd fire a parting shot?

Oh well, your choice, life goes on.

this is like shooting fish in a barrell.. someone must have got his password!

Friends, Romans and Countrymen.
Friends???

From tomorrow, I will not be answering any more technical questions
Oh darn, If you could only see the tears rolling down my rosey red cheeks now... the snot flowing down my chin, thru my 5inch long goaty...

...as you have far superior technical expertise compared to my limited experience and knowledge in the form of Truckster, thepublican, Axel and Aliases.
Limited experience, the other week it was 100yrs of been there done that, travelled further than the Ancient Romans..
Oh and I have no alias' here, just me... no need to hide, or start new names as for lost passwords etc...

These highly technically competent qualified and constructive people, will be only too delighted to assist you with full and technically detailed replies.
At last your seeing the light.

They will give you far more detailed and explanatory replies than what I have been giving.
Maybe not, but correct ones. theres a difference in giving info out, and dribbling.... You havent noticed how every forum sees you as the same? Has that sunk in yet?

I do apologise for passing on my limited and un-informative information.
So you should. one of your problems is you see you as the only one on the planet that knows stuff, and you in your eyes are always correct regardless of the proof put forward to you.. EG. Map co-ords of a certain shack, and others..

Hopefully you will be fully satisfied with the answers of Truckster, thepublican, Axel and Aliases.
They will. Your not the only one around here that knows stuff. theres a few dozen people on this list that have lots more info to give than you, it wont be a loss... As is on the Overlander list, are you leaving them too? Shall I pass on the good news to them?

Please treat them as they have treated me.
Respect is earned, not demanded...

Ozi,
Don't go. I am certain that your knowledge and advice has been appreciated by many and will still be if you stay on. There will always be detractors in every forum who need to assert whatever they need to assert. Just ignore them. All of us have some knowledge to give and I for one have gained lots of technical info from this forum. One is never too old to learn. Cheers, W

The sort of tripe you guys blow out yer @$$&$ is one reason Im happy never to have anything to do with 4wd clubs etc,
The real shame is that some people with genuine needs and questions listen to your "opinions" and second hand advice and info.

Yes sure "sometimes" there is good info but - opinions that are just that - opinions and too often some poor schmuck will listen - to his or her own detriment.

Some of you guys live in the city have only recently begun to explore the bush and you are instant experts - the true bushies with all the nouse and experience - dont even bother to contribute - because a different opinion often cops flack from the likes of you.

Get a life and dont look to this forum to meet your needs for recognition or importance.

My advice

- If you have good experience let us know

- If you have an opinion -State it - as an opinion

- But if you heard a rumor say its a rumour - because for those that come here to learn - they actually listen and think (god help them) that you actually know what you are talking about.

me - Ive lived in the bush all my life (46years) and Im still learning - all I can, - I even sift through some of the crap you contribute in the hope that I will learn something from your mistakes You are probably the types that we pull out of bogs in the wet , gullies and boggy sand on our beaches and dunal tracks but Im not too proud to learn a thing or two from somebody who sees things differently from me..

So get over whatever ego trip you are on and contribute - but state if its from your experience or a "story" you heard at the last 4wd club meet.
There is a difference.

LOL andrew Im so glad you asked,

One or 2 in particular but If the cap fits - wear it.

As for venting of the spleen - Ive got too many good things happening in my life to care - THAT much, though I must admit I dont have the time to read too much bull dust.

This is the best forum going - by far.

I just think lots of info from the real experienced ones never gets posted because there is heat if you have a different view.

Ozi has great info but hes not always right but I can handle that no prob.
Nobody is going to be right all the time - no offence ozi - great info I just have other opinion sometimes.

I just think for the sake of all the people asking questions they should know If the person answering has actually had the experience or 'just heard a story....'

Being objective is a great survival tool.

forgive this humble 4wd club member, but i think you just came off as self rightous as those you choose to to attack,i have always been led to believe that experance & knowlage were gained by doing, see & hearing not by just living in any part of this vast country.just becauce someone gives advise it does not require one to act on or accept it as fact, that is upto those who ask for help to decide what is acceptable to them wisdom comes from listening & learning not by just being there
&yes this is my opinion & my experance

Ah yes bruce no need for you to become defensive I agree with you (this could be my achilles tendon) but alas Ive tried the be humble and meek but I too have been shot down in flames in the past and If you are a long term reader of this forum you too may share my views - and as for 4wd clubs - It only takes one or two to detract from a great thing - same applies to bush walking clubs.

But then again......

Maybe I am a schmuck

Ive lived on the land and been in the army and had about all the survival and problem solving experiences I need in one life time so maybe you are right - I may be self rightous,

but guess what?

I wasnt really attacking anybody!!

Its amazing how defensive we can get

lets be objective

Ozi,

The forum will be all the poorer if you were to withdraw.

Just about everybody who regularly reads the forum is aware of your opinions on a number of topics (lubrication and batteries for example). Everyone may not agree with your opinions - but that is our right. Some offer altenative opinions - that is our right also. Although I think some delight in pushing your "buttons".

I personally enjoy healthy debate on issues but am occasionally disappointed when the to-ing and fro-ing becomes personal.

The one thing that you can be proud of is the sheer volume of work and effort that you put into researching and answering just about every technical query that pops up. I would hate to guess at (and would be in awe at) the hrs/wk that you put into background work to support your replies to this forum. I'm sure plenty of people have benfitted from the work that you do. I'm sure plenty of people appreciate the effort you have put in.

If you decide that you will no longer participate in this forum, then I wish to thank you for all the interesting reading and different points of view you have provided.

Cheers Stephen J.

THE REAL answer, is 42.
Ozi can and has put 'in' ,problem of course being that EGO ,question answer with a question and if PROVEN to be WRONG ,insults, sugestions to hang, aspersions to parentage, employment, education ect, this is not the only forum OZI has corrupted,
Sensible advise ,an occassional ' dig ' a laugh or 3 is what is needed in OUR 4x4/camping/touring forum ,not as Ozi would have it,MINE IS RIGHT SO YOUR ALL WRONG.

ozi, hope you change your mind. every piece of advice regarding solar panels and batteries has been 100% correct and could not have me more or been more helpful to other on the forum. fellows if you follow ozi's responses you will see that he only responds to topics he knows and does'nt give much inaccurate info. sometimes he does'nt agree but usually posts website and info that follows his statements for all to see.

still have some questions regarding my solar panel systems, please contact me at robert4615@yahoo.com.

Ozi

If someone else has a different view, opinion, or idea that you don't agree with, don't abuse them or call them liars, frauds ect. just ignore it.

I find some of your ideas or info helpful but don't agree with you all the time.

But if you choose not to participate there are plenty of people with knowledge on this forum who can help no matter what the subject is.

Hi Ozi,
Yes we do all have different opinions but that is what a forum is all about. Some of the information we take in some we don't but all is certainly appreciated and the extent that you have gone to to give your information astounds me.
Keep up the good work Ozi and all those who do contribute, we are all that much wiser by it and our knowledge just keeps growing about our own individual vehicle and camping.

Ozi, just change your name and keep contributing. I have found your contributions interesting and often informative. The only time I thought you were way off the mark was when you caned Landrovers, but lauded hi-tech German engines (which the Discovery has of course). The reason I read this forum is to glean information from people who have something genuine to contribute - expertise in a particular field, experience, specialised knowledge etc So please keep contributing while avoiding the personality issues that some are keen to drag in.

I have enjoyed your views and most of your contributions. I haven't always agreed with your views & opinions but understand that you are informed so that makes me think twice about questions I may have asked or opinions that I may have. THAT has got to be a good thing as without doubt I am not always correct either. Neither am I qualified so ALL advice is appreciated.
If you do depart, there will be a valuable source of information leaving us. If by chance you do eventually decide to stay please ignore all the snide remarks and don't get involved in the sideplay as it detracts from the quality of this forum. I'm a firm believer that we ARE all created equal and each and every one of us has something important to offer to this forum at some point. The people you trade blows with also have some good points but I doubt that any of us innocent bystanders enjoy the way you all carry on.
Hope to see more contributions from you soon.

Hi Ozi,

Even though you're not posting I hope you are still lurking in the back ground. I haven't visited this forum for a couple of days and am only just catching up on the posts.

Your decision to withdraw from this forum is yours alone and I respect that, though I am disappointed. There will always be knockers out there and I hate to see you let them get the better of you.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for all the help, info and advice you have given myself and others on this forum. You have given your time and knowledge generously and despite what some detractors imply, I believe always in a geniune attempt to help the poster.

I wish you all the best.

What annoys me is that this is my first ever post, and I have to say whether you like or take Ozi's advice or not, thats your decision. But to read posts bagging his wife who has absolutely nothing to with this site, thats deplorable. GET A LIFE. If you don't agree with someone's posts, either ignore it, or put your arguement forward with some proof. If it gets personal, then thats time to leave the topic alone. Thankyou for listening.

Ozi,

All this hyperbole must make you think, at times, that you are reading an epitaph. I hope that is not the case! I find your well researched, well presented, and very generous application all that I cherish and value. Thank you.

Now fellow forum members how does this all reflect on us? Badly I suggest.

Can we not as members of the best forum addressing 4WD issues, agree to a code of practice which respects each others views, appreciates others' points of view etc, and exists for the exchange of information and experience for the benefit of all.

I hope so, this is bigger than all of us.

My best wishes to you all

What a sorry state of affairs this forum has sunk to.

We are supposed to be grown adults, but we are acting like churlish children.

Please end it all and lets get back to what this forum is designed for, and that is to HELP OTHERS.
