Went out to these falls today and its a top spot, especially seeing as they are flowing. If any one is travelling up here its well worth a look, would still be nice if they wernt flowing but beautiful flowing.
Drove a back road into middle springs(nice cool spot for a swim) where I got talking to a bloke who said to watch out for the big bog hole at the start of the track which we were heading to,last week he hydrolic'd his cruiser in there. So upon getting to it I chickened out and tried to scirt round the outside, result one bogged cruiser.Winched myself out of the first one to be confronted with an even bigger boggier looking hole,so deciding that round the edge wouldnt work I drove straight through -------- and out the other side, bout wheel height.Another bloke watched us drive out and thought he'd drive through but tried to scirt round the edge and result,he was bogged also so had to winch him out .So got to use the winch two times in one day(first time used on new vehicle).Had a good storm this afternoon, lasted about 3hrs with a good bit of rain too.

You know it always surprises me when some one spends the time posting things like "You don't know?" when they could have typed "The Kimmberleys WA" just as quickly.

Gday All

Black Rock is about 20 odd ks out of Kununurra. The hole rferred to is the first one you encounter off Parry's creek road on the way into Middle Springs, which is right on the intersection. I went through it a couple of weeks ago and water just over the front of the bonnet on the patrol. From what I hear, it has hydraulicked (spell check!) 2 motors, and put a few fans through radiators as well.

Great time of year in the Kimberley, waterfalls and swimming holes are flowing well, & Barra are biting. Thankfully the local authorities haven't done their usual trick and closed all the roads. I understand they don't want the roads too chewed up for maintinance reasons, but in previous years it questions the need for a 4wd. As soon as you need it, your not allowed to.

Cheers Andrew

Ahhh...yes, cooled off there many a time during our stay in Kununurra some 20 plus years ago. Good spot.

As I recall March was particularly hot with the temp averaging around 38 for the month.

Was working for Kona Caravan Oark owned by the Queen of the Kimberley, Susan Bradley and her husband David, The Flying Vet.

Interesting times.

Hi Nick,

By the look of things, by the time I get up there to see you, the list of things to see and do will be as long as your arm...hahahahaha. Keep up the good work.

BTW, are you using the Tambo as your temporary accommodation, or do you have a cabin?

Cheers
