Dave ,
April is a great time to go because it is a good time to fish the run-off . This is the end of the wet where the water is still running off the floodplains into the creeks and rivers .
It is the best time of the year to fish and there are a lot of big fish to be caught if the wet season has been a good one .
Ask
Darwin Barra to fish the run-off and stay out at the South Alligator Hotel . Great run-off fishing plus a swimming pool when you get back at night .
Cheers ,
Willie .

Dave ,
If they are booked out , ask them for a recommendation . They are good people and will steer you clear of the lazy guides and get you onto a good operator.
Unless you already have rods and reels , don't bother to buy them or lures . They always have great gear and if you lose lures or break a rod you pay them for it but otherwise , using their gear costs nothing .
Cheers ,
Willie .

Hi Dave
You could also try Russell Kenny at NT Barra Fishing
Ph 08 89451841 or email ntbarrafishing@bigpond.com
He fishes the
Daly River as
well as Arnhemland but you have to book early.
Will be up there myself in April.
Good luck, Cheers Poppy

Dave ,
Poppy is spot on there - Russel is good too , but I am not sure that the Daly would be as good as the South Alligator in the runoff .
I have fished with Russell in Arnhemland four times or more when he was at
Maningrida and reckon he is up with the best of them . Not sure what his new Arnhemland
camp is like though , as I have not been there and I have heard no reports of it .
Be careful if you go on the Daly in April , that your dates are not the same as the Barra Nationals . That week is a disaster - big boats with big motors roaring up and down the river .
Cheers ,
Willie .
