Caravan Storage in Mount Isa

We have recently moved to
Mount Isa for 2 years on business and are living in a 2Br flat. So that we can see the most of this part of Australia I have on order an 18foot X 7' foot 6inch full size van with rooftop airconditioner.
Has any reader had any experience with longer term storage of vans in
Mount Isa between trips as the flat does not have high covered
parking able to fit the van and am reluctant to use the nature-strip because of potential council problems and sun damage to our new investment.
I understand that I can buy a large canvas cover to go over tto keep the direct sun off but dont know where to source one. The questions of heat under the canvas , ease of access and possible price of such a large cover concerns me.
Any advice of storage locations would be welcomed.
