Intend taking my forthcoming club trip along this section of the Murray. From everything I've read the scenery is pretty good as too is access to the river. I was wondering if anyone out there has the GPS coords for some good campsites along this route, particularly those that will comfortably accommodate up to 7 vehicles with 4 towing camper trailers.
Thanks in advance
Pete

A great spot with heaps of room for 100 cars would be a place called Ron Fridge S 34° 00.606 E 140° 51.390 It's in Chowilla area. there is a old fridge with stories that travellers have written in there.
there is another spot you could stop and look along the way is a Hat Tree on the main road between
Renmark and the SA/NSW border S 34° 00.097 E 140° 43.514.

Sorry there is no camping at
the Hat Tree,
The Hat Tree is a tree full of hats that people have left behind.

Must stop at Perry Sand hills ...
and if I were going to make a strong recommendation - find time to go to Mungo (although a little out of your way).

Thanks Andrew - already had
Perry Sandhills on the must see list. Saw a
pic somewhere else and that place has stuck in my mind. Thanks for the info.

suggest you get there before the sun comes up, tip toe around the place, sit and wait, watch the critters, hopping mice etc etc if you're quiet enough.
Kangaroos, eagles if you're patient, lizards et al.
Ciao for now
Andrew.

Hi Patrol22,
Can't help with GPS reading but there is a small
camping area at the start of Rufus River where it comes out from
Lake Victoria. Good fishing when the regulator is flowing. But be prepared for flies.
Alternatively, take the track on the
Renmark side of Rufus down to the Murray which will land you downstream of the lock.
Nice and quiet with good access to the water......but please take your rubbish with you.
Have a great trip.
