Given that more communities are justifiably withdrawing ULP and offering AVGAS, I am uncertain what this means for my GQ RB30.
I understand AVGAS has an Octane rating at about 130. My trusty machine has carby, no cat. converter etc.
Can I safely "cocktail"? or do I have to change main jets beforehand?
Not too technical advice please.
Thanks
Mike

I believe that you can safely “cocktail” – without EFI’s oxygen sensor and a cat to poison there should be no ill effects beyond the faint possibility of whiskering a plug or two.
Whether using this cocktail would be illegal or not is another matter.
You will not HAVE to change jets or otherwise change the tune of your engine.

Way way back .round 1969 I had an MG Midget ,went to
Perth from Albury on the old normal super, 3mths in
Perth, thing is on the way back due to a fuel strike/shortage ,filled with avgas,be damned if the old girl did,nt love it and would no longer run sweet on plain old super, had to run on a 50/50 mix till sold ,12mths later.

Raced my bikes on Avgas and Methyl Benzine (Octane Booster) I think it was..
Had problems jetting at first, but once i did.. :D :D :D :D
I dont see why you would have problems, if there were any they would have to warn people about it first wouldnt they?

Don't know about the other states but in NSW there are huge fines for anyone selling avgas for non aviation purposes and slighlty less fines but still huge for using it. This has been in place for at least 12 months.
