Evening all,I was chatting with our local hardware store owner this afternoon about generators as he has just started stocking the Kirpor gennys. One of his friends has just come back from somewhere in Nth Qld and was telling him what had happened to a guy while watching telly with his genny running one night.
This guy's watching the telly and all of a sudden there's slight flicker in the picture, after getting his backside off the chair and venturing outside to see what the problem was, he discovers someone has switched his new Honda for a GMC classic!Had the GMC running before the swap over. It's a wonder he didnt hear the different pitch,as these are 2 stroke?? Then again, maybe he was watching a movie with Ron Jeremy in it?

So, like, if Tracy is outside cooking, and I'm sleeping in my tent, and she's not chained up to the stove, do you think there's a good chance that someone will.......

Nah, I'm as safe as houses. All she reads is those romance novels, you know, the ones with bare chested pirates on the covers, with no chest hairs.

I read one of those little books once, and it's got me fair beat, why she even married me. I am definitely not anything remotely like anyone in those books, that's for sure.

Maybe it's the chain thing...

I've got HEAPS of points up. We just came back the other day, from 4 days up the river, and she used MY kayak, MY new folding bed, also, MY swag got hundreds of ants in it, and HERS didn't, and I didn't wreck her toast in the mornings.

We used MY Motorcharge Card, and drank MY Jack Daniels.

Certainly worth thinking about some sort of security, most of us would put them a fair way from camp.

Shame about your thread being hijacked & turned into a chatroom, which seems to be happening more & more lately. It's annoying to have to read through a lot of drivel spoiling interesting threads.

Not at all, we made a comment relevant to the thread! You still haven't.

It's a shame that theft is now a problem while camping, there used to be a unwritten law that nobody would enter or pass through a single campsite without asking.
When you think about there is hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of gear that may be left unattended, like gensets, fridges, hot water services etc etc. It would be shame if it gets to the stage where we have to pack everything up, to be able to go for a drive.

sorry to say it, but it sounds like a load of bollocks to me.
try switching your TV off and back on as he would have to do. It would be alot more than a "slight flicker" You would have to switch the TV back on I think?

We had a power surge/blackout,for a split second in our seafood /takeaway shop a fortnight ago and our TV that sits on top of one of the fridges in the shop came straight back on.

Depends on the tv. Some will switch off (actually go to standby) while others will come back on.

This is a serious problem in the UK, generator theft is common, the pikeys love to nick honda generators. Infact the pikeys will steal any generator that looks decent. The key to keeping your generator is to chaining it to your wheel, it also helps if it looks really tatty. Unfortunately this is just a sign of the times, better lock it up or lose it.
