Apparantly, I caused a bit of a Kefuffle on here last night. Appologies to all those that don't share my sense of humour.

Des,

What's tp apologise for? Relax and take it easy. I'm sure that many others, like I, appreciate your quirky humour and more importantly your snappy comebacks. (That's snappy as in instantanious befor someone reprimands me).

Love your sense of humour and occasionly imagine being able to catch up with yourself and a number of other members around a campfire with a bottle or two, or three or four, or even more.

Anyone with a tagline "Dyslexics Untie" has a "Get out of goal" card whenever it may be required.

Kind Regards

More likely she'd say......."so how the bloody hell did you manage to get yourself lost AGAIN??" Funny story about that several months ago, I managed to not be able to find my way out of camp site we had in amongst some sand dunes......I had to eat humble pie and go back to camp and ask one of the other blokes (Pesty was one of them), "So how the bloody hell do I find my way outa here???" How embarrassment!!!

Actually it is somewhat surprising these days that the last few long weekends I have been up the HC we have had the place to ourselves.

We spoke to one other group on the UHF (Did not see them) but saw no one at Tingaringy and passed only one other vehicle on the Deddick Trail.
We stopped at McKillops Bridge for a swim in the Snowy and the camp ground had only one tent in it.

Maybe they all heard that Truckster was going up there and stayed away??? LOL

Hi Bushy
In a word "Dusty" dry as hell and dusty as hell. (Am I allowed to say hell on here?)
Funny you mention Armstrong's its gate was closed with a sign saying "Track Closed for Fire repair evaluation" or words to the effect.
Surprised us a bit as we had been advised that "All tracks were open"

Tingaringy and all the others in the area were no problem a few trees down but nothing unusual in that.
We got stopped last year in November from doing much around Tingaringy due to the rain and the amount of fallen timber so it was nice to be able to access the area.

When it does rain those tracks are going to turn to complete mush with the dry dusty conditions currently in place, just like outback bulldust.

Cheers

Truckster, it wasn't meant to be funny it was really a philosophical addendum to the Post on how old we all are - the couple of responses I saw straight away seemed to be in agreement with the ideas and then an hour later it was gone, and I got the message it wasn't suitable and it wasn't Friday. Oh well, I think I suggested the moderator should moderate a bit more. And then I sat in the corner for the rest of the day. LOL.

Well, DL you can sit in the corner with me and Little Jack Horner. Nah, stopped trying to do the dyeing thing this time last year - too difficult without being able to go to the hairdresser (what's a hairdresser?)so have short grey thickish (thicker than it was - no, maybe coarser) hair which doesn't make me feel any wiser - just older and maybe a little depressed (yes, I think it does), so encourage Mrs DL every time she wants to go to the hairdresser! Don't be like Mr GG who thinks it's about time I ended up looking old and depressed like him and acted HIS age! Hrummph! (Thank goodness we'll never be as old as him no matter how long we live - ha ha ha !)

I dnot know waht the fuss was abuot.

I drive home, here in the suburbs of Adelaide, and sit at the traffic lights, and buses pull up next to me, with this VERY SAME brand name absolutely plastered all over them.

It goes to show, that some people are way too precious for their own good.

Too many here are PC, and they don't even know why, they are just being myopic little sheep.

This very same short-sightedness really got to me on a recent Tag-Along trip I did for three weeks. We ventured far into three deserts, seen a LOT of nasty things, and were sometimes a left a little wondering, as to the safety of our group.

At the end of the tour, the tour leader asked us all what could be improved, so people who venture with them in the future, could get a better trip, based upon our recommendations.

All people could talk about, was the foul language, that two people (locals, mind you) used whilst we were at Cook. These people bent over backwards for us, got us a wicked site, bought us in lots of sleepers, and really livened the night up, with their hospitality. I spent all night with them, as I knew one of them from my previous working life.

Okay, they were a little rough, but they were good, honest, rough diamonds. Treated us like kings and queens.

My tour crew bitched and moaned, and almost made the tour leader feel as if it was HIS fault!

I see, with some sort of regularity, the post crop up, about foul language on the UHF.

Build a bridge, and get over it.

It appears, that the likes of Al, myself, and a few others, are increasingly having to bat, off the back foot lately, because of the panderings of the chosen few, who like to whinge, and carry on, and call poor David. "Oh, Wolfie's Hi-Jacked another thread..." "Oh, Des has got a rude picture..."

You buggers all don't like it when Harold Scruby, or Greenies, or some other minority group attack your personas, yet, you do the same thing here, and get all upset, over a picture. Hate to see what you'd all do, if it was a religious cartoon, like in the press just recently, because that's exactly fow some of you are acting.

I'll tell ya all now, I've got a fair idea, whom I would NEVER go camping with on EO get togethers.

Some of you guys need to get a grip. It is LEGAL, to use the four letter word. It is aired on free to air television after 8:30 in the evenings, yet do we see posts about..."Should I sell my TV?"

Some of you guys are wimps. Go and watch the ABC, drink ya cup of herb tea, and keep looking at the world through your rose coloured glasses, but don't EVER, pull me up, if I happen to meet up at camp, about the way I talk. I am the very same guy, who will repair 17 punctures for the crew on a three week trip, change out shockies, and be the general wrench monkey, on everyone else's vehicle, and curse whilst doing it.

Maybe we should ask David, to install some Nanny ware, so you can surf the site, safe in the knowledge, that you will never be upset again....

... and you call yourself adventurers....

I agree with you Wolfie. Absolutely amazing that some people get almost apoplectic if you drop the "F" word yet they'll calmly munch their marmalade on toast and sip tea at breakfast whilst reading about mass murder, genocide, child abuse, etc etc as if it were normal behaviour.

What makes them tick? Do they have so little regard for themselves and the good they COULD do that the only outlet they have is to point the finger anonymously at mundane matters, relatively speaking, discussed on this forum.

To all the overly politically correct out there, enjoy life and let others enjoy their's. It ain't a rehearsal.

I'll swear along with the best of them, but I have respect for peoples wives, girlfriends & of course, children.
That is why I think it is wrong to use bad language on the radio, it is totally unnecessary, surely people can string together a coherent sentence without the 'F' & 'C' words!
Remember, you have absolutely no idea who may be subjected to it, would use that language in front of your own mother or grandmother??

Wolfie, I missed whatever the original thing was about but had been wondering for sometime now whether some of the people on (no, using) this Forum were far to 'precious' to be allowed out. Keeping this in mind, and being a long-time Forum advocate, I've started to keep my counsel so to speak. Those of you who know me know that this Forum is a life-line in the long summer months for me (apart from a great learning tool) and many of us (EO people) have become wonderful friends. Now some of these people have disappeared off Forum (still friends tho) and I think it's because of the PC people and shifting in the ownership goal-posts (not necessarily a bad thing), but there is a loyalty amongst EO people and long-time Forum regulars which sometimes gets forgotten by those who should remember how the Forum became so popular - not just for the brilliant repartee which transends anything on any Comedy Channel - but for unswerving giving of advice/hints/ideas and ENCOURAGEMENT.
It was obvious from the Post on our Ages last week that there is a large group of roughly the same age who obviously have similar ideas about camping in the bush, what constitutes good camping etiquette, how to have a good time without graffittiing the surroundings, and a natural helpfullness when some is in trouble or requires assistance ( and for having a good time).
When reading David's Post yesterday about bad things etc. I was shocked (yes, I was shocked) when he said how many people had used the Alert Moderator button and it began me thinking about the Post I put up - someone must have used the AM button without really looking at the Post and reading it - assumed by the way it was written it was a Friday Funny. I don't know and not really interested in knowing - I can take my punishment, but I object strongly to those people USING as opposed to being in the Forum, for some sort of righteous indignation thingie (oh sorry is that what I've got) and no, I don't like foul language on the UHF (or around me) but I work in the cattle yards and know how to use it if needs be also (my Mother once told me that you sometimes need to be able to speak in a language 'they' understand, and unfortunately she was right). Wolfie is quite right - about 98% of the time in his rave up above and you don't often find me agreeing with him! LOL. I was going to add a bit more about the violence etc. around kids every day - but I got a better offer - cappuccino in the cafe - so I'm off. Doesn't hurt for us to think about these things occasionally - but the PC stuff is old hat and doesn't work anyway. (I'm going back to the corner now) LOL

Theres a time and a place th this place bleeps the rude words and moderates the same pics.

I like to think I'm as broad-minded as most of us on here and I certainly saw nothing wrong with Des's T shirt.....indeed I'm the bloke who emailed it to him in the first place and dared him to put it up as his Rig Pic, (cos I knew it was a bit cheeky......as opposed to being "rude" IMHO) and would probably bring out the Thought Police en masse! Strewth, did I ever get THAT right!!!

However, like Shaker said, I don't like to hear that sort of language around my wife and kids, which is why I love my UHF radio........I've got one of those extra-ordinary ones that has an "OFF" knob! When I hear language that I think my kids are still too young to be subjected to, I use that "OFF" knob to great effect. When they get old enough that I believe their ears can handle that language, I will be the one to edumacate them (even though I already know they know almost as many "bad" words as i do)...........it's a bit like taking your 18 year old son to the pub for the first time .....you know he's been into the grog for the pacouple of years behind your back, but it's still nice to make it all official I expect.

Anyway, I might disagree with the wowsers who scoff at the use of such common bad language, but I'll stick up for their right to voice their opinion as well.....as long as they let me voice my opinion too.

Couldn't have said it any better, Ian, but as you know the thought police are rampant on just about every Australian internet forum and they are progressively beating the individuality out of anyone or anything which does not comply with 'the norm'.

Only heard about this 'Alert Moderator' button thingy today (11.3.06)

Amazing! been a member since 2002 and didn't know it existed.

Took me a leetle while to locate it as I thought from all the 'angst' and 'mouth frothing' reaction the subject post allegedly caused, it must be some big throbbing red 'internet nazi' button that my version of JAVA wasn't running.

Nup! just an insignificat radio button right where I can punch the mother when you
Mardi Gra Nisson-ites keep bagging my JEEP and TROOPY.

ROFLMA

Don't weaken Al, Its all a game mate and someone else is just waiting to take your place in the C H I T bin, if they aren't already there.

PS

Obviously nothing so far has pushed my 'offended' button to cause me to seek redress via a 'internet nazi'

However

The 'internet nazis' where I work had a field day with a new screening program that detects skin/flesh tones.

Yep! they slammed us with that one, no more looking at people pics, no siree.

For those who know the Org that I work for, its enough to say that email basically became redundant until they figured out that their 'hands' were in the wrong place and removed them and their new toy.

Well that's about what we an expect from a member without a rig pic. Waddling like a duck out of water and worried about that big bad goose.

Shouldn't you be sleeping or at work, instead of pestering me. (LOL)

PS

If I put a real rig pic in I would be inundated with ???????? so the stock standard one is the go.

The longest post in history - nearly. We could digress even further to keep it going! Nearly time for you to vanish off the webwaves (as in airwaves) -visitors will be coming soon including us! Did you enjoy the Commonwealth Games opening. Jen and I decided to go after buying tickets late Tuesday night. We thought it was awesome. With it on our doorstep it would have been sad if we NDA-ed (Did not attend!! - trying to keep slightly on theme. Nearly time for Ians brekky so off the computer young lady!

Hi there - been up since 5.30 when Ian clattered around house making his breakfast so he could go up to the other house and start welding patio/pergola frame before the wind and flies. Missed the opening because of a race club meeting (blast - boring too). Was hoping some of the locals caught the Opening. I thought you might have DL's problem with the NDA, Yes, the EO Forum will soon be safe as I will be very busy this year - the kitchen will be in full swing again and the mad cook will be raving a lot this year. No campers yesterday, two expected today. I must away to brekkie, then to a Course on the Responsible Service of Alcohol!! (and I get a Certificate). Ciao, Bella!
