ADDING A PHOTO TO MY POST - I'M CONFUSED ( again )

I have done a search of the "past posts " but I am still hopelessly confused . Do I have to join a users group and put the photo on there before I can add it to a post ?

Some people do a post and it has the picture right there . You don't have to click on a link and go somewhere else to see it .

I have seen the "To Post Hyperlinks " thingies above where I am writing this post - is that the secret ? Is there instructions anywhere on this site ?

Sorry to annoy you all with a question I am sure has asked many times before .

Willie .

G'day Willie,
You have to put the photo in you profile BEFORE you type the post then when you finish typing go to the bottom and follow the instructions. It really is easy but a word or advice. Reduce you photo to less that 50kb before you put it in you profile by using MS paint or something like that. good luck. Ian

So I can't just pick up a picture from somewhere and add it to my post . Must it already be in my gallery ?

Ah yes Gramps but once its added ts locked in your members picture area, until the post is archived, much better to go with the second option.

Bonz,

I seem to remember a problem with external hosting as well. Roachie had pictures of the 747 cockpit masquerading as his vehicle interior. When he deleted the pics from his external host they, of course, disappeared from here as well. Six of one/half a dozen of the other I guess LOLOL

Is there no where on this site that describes the ways of adding pics to posts.
There is so much confusion and mystery about this simple task, what's the go, is it a bluddy joke or what.

For crying out load would someone better with words than me write an FAQ on this. When the question is asked we can simply post the standard and correct reply with the answers.

So there are 3 methods that need to be defined:

Adding a rig pic
Adding a pic with EO hosting
Adding a pic with external hosting

Please someone do it

Sorry Willie, I'm no having a go at you.

Well under the "Enter your followup" box are the HYPERLINKS clues, theyre the ones for links and pics, its easy to do.

For rig pics the clue is that you need to have a "signature" in your profile for the rig pic to show. Other than that its easy as shooting doves in a barrel.

I want to add a photo and do not want to use the gallery picture that is for members only. There is a hyper link for images, how does that work?

Wayne it is easy. Google "photobucket" and go open an account there and then add the pic you want to post here, there.

Then below the window you post your reply etc in is this:

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/BonzInc/images.jpg

Post the link from photobucket that looks like this

replacing

http://domain.com/image_path

remove the bits in square brackets...

and voila!

Ray thats cause its as big as it gets.

OK WIllie, go to www.photobucket.com or go here young man and click on Join Now!. There you'll be able to navigate thru and open an account, once you've done the email thing to activate etc, you'll see the browse area to add a pic and name it.

Then once you've added a pic you'll see 3 windows under the added pic, one starts with [IMG], thats the hyperlink onfo you'll need to plug into the bit as per above, if you give me your email I can open the acct for you

put the path between the "....." using the images syntax at the bottom of the box where you write the message

Sorright Willie - In my confusion, I called you "Willem".

Sorry guys ;)

Anyway - if you are using Windows (I know it's an assumption, and not eveyone uses it - I'm on Linux myself), then just hover your mouse cursor over the image being displayed when you've found it. While it's hovering - click (and you may have to hold) your right mouse button and find "Copy Image Location" from the list. While still holding the button down, slide down to that option - highlight it and let go. It is now in your copy/paste buffer. Type what I told you in my description above, place the cursor in between the two rabbit ears and click the right mouse button again. Select "paste".

I'm sorry to appear so condescending, but I'm not sure what experience you have.

Cheers

Bonz ,
We lost the cricket . We made 434 runs . They were 9 for 434 with two balls to spare and Boucher hit a 4 . I have never seen a game like it .

Willie, you have the URL right. Chris's thing works for him but he must be using a different browser cause that right click menu has different things for different browsers. just click on the url box under the pic in photobucket and copy that location

I am just about to put up a two page file in member fileswap to hopefully help

Willie,

Not only is it a depiction of Oz's first surfer it looks suspiciously like evidence of the first recorded shark attack on a surfer. To the left of the surfer it looks like a shark veering away after a 'test' bite :))))))))

Hmmm, just to confuse the issue, how about

1) Open an account with www.photobucket.com It's free. Then browse your hard disc for photos to put onto the site in your album there .

2 ) In your Post/Follow-up text box, copy and paste the hyperlink for images (listed below the text box) from the less than sign to the greater than sign.

3 ) Click on a photo in photobucket you wish to put on the Post / Follow-up .

3 ) Look below the photo . Highlight box next to Url and hit Edit/COPY on the toolbar line at the top of your browser window.

4 ) PASTE to your Post / Follow-up from"http to path"

It's all done bar writing your accompanying message - hit " Submit Follow - up "

Sorry Willie.

I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way of doing this. You can use the info from photobucket URL, TAG and IMG all in different ways to achieve the same result. I've used all three at different times.

IMHO most of the problems concern the info "To Post Hyperlinks" below each Post/Follow-up text box. It's not that the info is wrong, it's just that people don't necessarily notice it or know how to use it.

I'll just keep fiddling around, check out Bonz' instructions and see which works best for me and let you know.

Regards
