Just had a great weekend at
Double Island Point, stayed at Freshwater Creek campgrounds and tried to get to
Rainbow Beach via
beach access. The last two times I did this there were NO rocks, just nice flat sand - even did it 2WD! But alas it was not to be this time (HMPH!). The recent bad weather has exposed so many rocks its impossible to get through and not just at Mudlo. There are two areas of rocks that you have to weave through just to get to the main rocks at Mudlo and they are impassable. All vehicles that tried had to turn back including us :o( Don't bother trying, just take Freshwater Creek Rd until the sand covers some of the rocks again in a month or two.
!MPG:3!
The white cruiser in the background is Mudlo rocks...

It's a little hard to tell with the main rocks in the background, but ALL those vehicles in the
pic turned back AND it was very close to low tide (urk!). A friend in a reasonably high Patrol got stuck on a
rock (in the foreground) for a couple of mins LOL.
Time for a higher-lift and a propeller LOL.

Cheers Rocket Salad, I should read earlier posts, but I think your post had gone to page 2 or 3. It was fun getting to the rocks, but not worth the risk trying to pass. I heard on the uhf that there was a ute stuck there and thats the main reason everone in the
pic turned back - just not worth it. I guess there'll be a few more pics up at the pub in the next few weeks LOL...

Update
Had a chat to another tour driver that drives daily from Noosa to Fraser via
Rainbow Beach. He said that "Mudlo will be unpassable till after
Easter." He now takes the Freshwater track everyday.
