This is not an add, hence my heading may be a little vauge as I don't want accusations... I am genuinley seeking advice on the selling price of my 99 GU...

I've had this 2.8 TD GU on the market for a couple of months now. I've had it listed in the trading post and on carsguide with not a single call from either of them. I've had it parked on the side of a main road in Adleaide and had heaps of calls from people looking for a 3LT. I cant help but almost laugh at them. The car has a huge sign saying $21000. Does anyone really expect to buy a 3LT GU for $21000?
This GU has got a Heavy duty lift kit, only very minor panel damage on one door and large tyres/alloy mags window tiniting etc.. Oh and it's a 99 DX....

So... comments please. Am I really asking too much? From the research I've done it's the chepaes GU on the market anywhere I can find and it doesn't seem to want to sell.

There is nothing wrong with it mechanically either so what am i doing wrong... Cheers

Coyote,

Don't know which model you have, or the milage it has done, but check the Redbook prices out and adjust yours accordingly.

The NISS99BK shows around $17,400 - $20,800 for average private sale price, milage between 110,000 to 180,000.

The NISS99BO shows around $19,300 - $23,000 for average private sale price, milage between 110,000 to 180,000.

99 Patrol - Redbook Prices

Cheers sand man.. I guess that means I am expecting too much.. I was comparing to all other GU's I could find (both 2.8 and 3.0 ) and in comparison to the redbook, they are all up there..

Hi Coyote

What sorta KM's are we talking here? I found when I was looking at buying my Patrol there was thousands of 2.8L out there. Have you done a search on the car selling sites and compared yours with the others for sale to see what the difference is? My guess is there are just allot of them out there

I think 2.8's are generally harder to sell because of the smaller engine. People probably hope to pick up a cheap 3.0l but are kidding themselves when they call you. I also think that any large vehicle is harder to sell because of fuel prices. Keep persisting as you only need one buyer!!

I have seen a couple of 3.0l sold for under $20k.

IMO , its only the 4.2's that offer a decent resale price.

Even my 4.5 Petrol is worth squat.

Hi.. I drive past your car every day parked on that main road in adelaide,,,
It is too much for a 2.8litre 99 DX but it looks tough...
Once you lift a car like that it narrows the people who would be interested in buying it..
The fact it is 2.8litre would'nt be doing you any favours either..
Where you park it is a crap of a spot for people to stop for a look,, i would park it back at the next large intersection North from where you are parking it now on the grassy area in front of that homes display village.... Very easy spot to stop and have a look...I have seen cars sell from there since 1975... Good little spot...

Cheers Voxson.. I think I'll take your advice on that.. I kinda figured it was a good spot close to Rays an all. The parking to have alook etc seemd alright, but I park it therein the mornings and pick it up late arvo. I guess after peak hour the spots in front might fil up etc.. so thaks for that.. I'll chuck it on the other spot..
